Absolutely - and I grieve for the women who will still have to endure these horrors while any educational changes take effect - but first of all we need governments who will stop the obsession with universities, and start putting resource into nursery and primary levels, which is where respect and empathy actually start for future generations.

I do agree with AH. As with any changing of cultural attitudes it will need time and education and this is what must be done now to start the ball rolling.

In addition we need to attack the symptom, scum like these people. We need adequate sentencing and monitoring. But with todays PC liberal attitude to both certain "communities" and to believing the perpetrator is more of a victim I can't see that happening any time soon.

I can't believe anyone could say such a thing if they had heard that story - but then this is andyhughes and nothing should surprise me.

Everyone who has followed this thread should watch the Norfolk video.

The key point is that the official documentation Norfolk managed to get hold of - case studies, police reports, etc. - showed that in Rotherham the local council, the local welfare services and the South Yorkshire police had know about the grooming gangs for ten years. I'll repeat that - TEN YEARS. By "know about" I mean - quoting Norfolk - the names of the girls, the names of the men, the addresses used.

After this damning evidence was published in the Times Rotherham council initiated an investigation, not, incredibly into the failures of care, but into the source of the leaks.
