John Crace, of the Guardian, has long called our Prime Minister “The Maybot”, because of her seemingly total inability to behave in anything other than a robotic fashion. Now, I see that Matthew Parris, of the Times, has written an article calling her “Hologram May” which makes her seem even less “substantial”, if that were possible! Parris is a Tory and an ex-MP who was Thatcher’s secretary and who writes a regular column for The Times, a notably right-wing paper.
Because I am unsure whether the link to the article I provided above will pass The Times’ pay-wall, I’ll provide a little detail here:
In the article, which tells of a group of people (Tories?) on a jungle expedition (Brexit-negotiations?) someone is sent to tell the Maybot something and – as he tries sorrowfully to hug her – his arms pass clean through her. That’s when he discovers she is nothing but (quote) “a triumph of 3D technology”.
How accurate a description is this of the governing party we currently have?
