I think there are scars after fgm. One examiner said his conclusion was that fgm had taken place but the second examiner couldn't be sure. They also found contacts that perform circumcision in the family's mobile phone and the father explained that away by saying the circumcision contact also circumcises boys. The action group that the only witness was attached to made some doubt what he had to say, the 6 year old girl wouldn't talk and the mother's answer to most questions was "No comment". A very hard case to prove

hc4361, //a renowned gynaecologist examined the girl and could find NO evidence that she had undergone any FGM procedure//
And I saw NO reference to ‘a renowned gynaecologist’, simply to a consultant gynaecologist. I would like to know his name.
sqad, //Is this abnormal vagina likely to be caused by FGM?//
Other than stitching the opening up, leaving only a small gap through which menstrual blood may escape, FGM isn’t usually carried out on the vagina, but on the clitoris and labia. That is why, contrary to popular misconception, internal examination isn’t essential to recognise mutilation.
