/// It was a campaign to draw attention to the race, religion and immigrant background of the defendants.” ///

To be fair, that is an important and valid factor, in this present age.

Gromit, as I am sure you are aware I am referring to the many cases that have come up regarding people from a 'community' that were ignored.

You are correct in what you say about putting the trial at risk.

"do you believe " far right groups " are treated unfairly ? "

From where I stand I see them treated differently. I would be happy if all extreme groups were treated harshly but they are not.
"On Wednesday, the judge Justin Barron said Golding and Fransen’s words and actions “demonstrated hostility” towards Muslims and the Muslim faith."

Now this is interesting. Why then is no action being taken against antifacist groups who "demonstrate hostility"?

In some ways this does seem to infringe on free speech.
^ Because anti fascists are not a group that can be defined by ethnicity, religion, gender or sexual orientation . So prejudice/action against them is not a 'hate' crime.
It would be a hate crime if it was against homosexual anti fascists, or female anti fascists but not if it is against anti fascists in general.
//judge Justin Barron said Golding and Fransen’s words and actions “demonstrated hostility” towards Muslims and the Muslim faith." //

For the record, I'd like to make it clear that I am hostile to the Muslim faith and to some, but not all, Muslims.

/// They posted it online because they thought it would bolster their cause undoubtedly. ///

Which according to the Independent it has worked:

/// Both Fransen and Golding have since been banned from Twitter in a crackdown on extremism and hate speech, but Britain First continues to have a large following on Facebook, were its official page is “liked” by more than 2 million people. ///
Maybe if you feel so strongly K you could join BF ?

As a loyal British subject, don't you think we should put Britain First?
I love my country, very much, and there is much to be proud of here, which is why it's important to understand that Britain First do not represent those of us who actually do care about the country and all of it's inhabitants, and it's important to steer Britain down a non extremist ( of ANY persuasion) path and not let this morons gain the kudos they crave.
anneasquith; //Maybe if you feel so strongly K you could join BF ?//

I won't join up, but shall we say, I'm more hostile to Muslim rapists that I am to the BF, and actually If you care to research it, you will find that it was only through the constant warnings about the huge amount of Muslim abuses of young British children and of the covering up of it by the police by these 'extremist' groups, that led to public awareness and prosecutions.

And by the way, I prefer bigots, to virtue signallers.
//'extremist' groups, that led to public awareness and prosecutions//
You have proof of this Khandro, maybe even a link?
So called extremist groups are the reason these Muslim grooming gangs were brought to our attention. The likes of Julie Bindel were ignored... Unless of course you count her as an extremist.

If you go knocking on doors you can expect some repercussions especially if you are knocking on the wrong door.

Utter claptrap and re-writing of history.

The first grooming scandal was revealed on Channel Four News in 2003. They discovered a two year old Police Investigation in Keighley, West Yorkshire.

https://web.archive.org/web/20100620042427/http://www.channel4.com/news/articles/society/law_order/Asian%2Brape%2Ballegations/256893

It was that groundbreaking work which led to Operation Span and all the other successful prosecutions.
Britain First have used the grooming trials for their own self publicity, and did nothing to help those investigations.
Danny, for one thing it was the protestations by the EDL for the removal of South Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner Shaun Wright which highlighted his negligence in protecting young victims of abuse, and led to greater public awareness of the issue, and his dismissal.
Grommit; a fat lot of good channel 4's report did, (laudable as it was), this was back in the time when the police and local Labour councillors were covering up all allegations.
Khandro - // I'm more hostile to Muslim rapists that I am to the BF ... //

Interesting viewpoint.

Personally, I am hostile to rapists, their reigion really isn't a cvonsideration insofar as i would be more hostile to a Muslim rapist than I would a Christian or atheist rapist - I don't tend to section criminals off in that way.
andy-hughes, Khandro didn't say he was more hostile towards one rapist than another. He said he was more hostile to Muslim rapists than he is to BF. Me too.
Me too.
Pathetic attempt at twisting someone's words from Andy.
From Gromits post;
'Supt Mark Whyman, West Yorkshire Police:

"Early last year we received a variety of reports that young Asian men by young I mean in their teens to their twenties were targeting young vulnerable school girls for sex and were actually leading to prostitution in some cases."
^2003
2004- The same force asked C4 to cancel showing a documentary that included a report on Muslim grooming gangs in Bradford.
https://www.theguardian.com/media/2004/may/20/channel4.broadcasting1
Also 2004- The same force travelled to N.Wales to arrest Nick Griffin........ for claiming there were Muslim grooming gangs.
(he was cleared of 'inciting racial hatred' by a jury.......twice)

No wonder people feel helpless and protest in the street.
Waking up angry, violent and far right is always a great start to the day.
