I dare say this post will receive less attention than it deserves. Fingers crossed that their attempt to bring down the new law collapses quickly.
I don't for a second think that the law in question goes far enough, but it's a step in the right direction and it's vital that Florida be allowed to take that step.

I just struggle to comprehend the mindset of the NRA, a State tries to move in the right direction following yet another tragedy and they send in the lawyers. Just mind boggling attitude. I sometimes wonder what the reaction would be if prominent NRA members families were to become victims of one of these all to frequent mass shootings.
The NRA are not in the least concerned with the rights of young people or the 2nd and I think 4th amendments in any way other than it affects their sales.
Think of the biggest seller in this country and imagine a % of their potential sales were going to be taken away and thinking it was the slippery slope to more restrictions. That's the NRA at the moment. Let this one slide and more will follow.

Ironically, it I difficult to argue with the NRA's right to oppose this law in purely legal terms - it does have a valid point about the restriction of the application of the Second Amendment.
That said, outwith the legal aspect, which is of course devoid of emotion, which it should be, the organisation is clearly motivated by financial gain, and the potential drop in its customer base.
I think there is an argument for asking why any citizen anywhere ever, wants to purchase a multi-firing weapon, since it is difficult to imagine a civilian use for a military-grade weapon which is designed to kill as many people in as short a time as possible.
In a military situation, that has grounds for use, but where in the name of sanity is that sort of weapon a valid choice for Zeke who shoots the odd rabbit for the pot?
