Would the lobby staff had even allowed rough sleepers into their establishment?

Recently, I read that Premier Inn turned homeless people away as they didn't have ID. The rooms were donated by someone that had to cancel due to one of the storms that we've had.
I have never had to produce I/D at a Premier Inn and the charity would only have needed to make a phone call to find out.

I would think that because the room was booked in another’s name would be one obstacle unless the hotel allows you to cancel and have random strangers who you can’t name who will be staying there which would be a Security risk.

Also another thing is I’ll guess that a 4/5 star hotel would do everything they could to avoid homeless rough speakers staying in their rooms especially if they looked rough and had sleeping bags etc as the guests there would probably complain as the rich certainly don’t like seeing the poor.
In this situation, it has already been cleared with the hotel...they were fine with it.
As far as favouritism is concerned, you also can look at it from the rough sleepers point of view. " I've been on the street longer than he has.. .why did he get the room and I didnt...I'm younger...I'm older...etc ". Does the charity have the time/manpower to go through all their clients and decide who is most deserving? No, picking a name out of a hat wouldn't work either. There are so many issues involved.
I don't think the charity should have been named...now there are idiots shouting "boycott...don't donate!"
On the face of it this does seem illogical but the Charity has better experience of the situation so I'm as content as I can be they did what they felt was right.
