Jackdaw, I know a few men who have a habit of tripping over their bottom lip on a regular basis too. ;o)
//Mr Rey was fired when another server was left "borderline in tears" over a workplace disagreement//
it would have made sense to me if it had been a customer ...

I agree with you there, Naomi, I know a few too.
If you look at local press, he had been disciplined about his attitude on more than one occasion. It sounds like the 'borderline tears' incident was the last straw.
It would appear the person 'near tears' was male:
"The incident that ultimately led to his dismissal took place in August 2016, when Rey asked one of the servers to complete his duties. "

In addition it appears the Frenchman was asking someone to do their job:
" But the restaurant manager said the server came into her office "borderline in tears" after Rey "aggressively" checked the server's duties. "

How do you aggressively check someones duties I wonder?
I doubt this bloke has ever been to France let alone French. I have spent a lot of time in France playing rugby and in business and social and I have seen a lot of directness, I have never seen rude bullying little thrupneys like this idiot. I suspect he’s a chip on shoulder French Canadian, hated even by the indigenous French.

Shouldn't that be 'indigenous native Canadian'? :0)
"Shouldn't that be 'indigenous native Canadian'? :0)" - no
// "The restaurant says Mr Rey was fired when another server was left "borderline in tears" over a workplace disagreement."

Means nothing, we dont know how weak the person in tears was. I have seen 'people in tears' over nothing.//

It says he'd been warned about his behaviour before, so was effectively on probation. People don't get sacked for nothing. Sounds like they got rid of a bully to me.
