fireworks
Fireworks should be BANNED, Full Stop, they cause NOTHING but trouble, If the Goverment can't ban them completely, then they should be sold ONLY to Organised events Holders that have a Licence to use them, They are all too easy to buy, Im sickened by the recent news of the Barn Fire in Bury in which a Horse died, this fire was started by Thugs playing with Fireworks. The Barn from what I can gather was a Home for Neglected horses, one horse, the last horse out suffered extensive Burns, and died a day later, the other 4 or 5 horses are suffering terribly. I cannot and will NEVER understand why these dangerous items have never been banned to the Public , however pretty they may be they are a BIG DANGER to People and Animals , those Thugs that caused this unnecessary suffering should recieve the same treatment. Im disgusted .

I really do agree with the idea of banning them, but this steretyping and these sweeping generalisations only serve to weaken the arguement that I support. THAT'S why I question them.
The story about the people blowing up a (possibly already dead) dog, whilst a sad demonstration of how sick some people can be, concerns the ultimate arrest of a 19 year old. I thought much of the debate was about 16 year olds, and we all know what a big difference those 3 years makes. I agree that a story like that add to support the anti-easy-purchase arguement, and I hope that the culprits get a deservedly harsh penalty for this act of animal cruelty.
Well that wasn't what I meant at all. My point is that the links given by vic didn't refer to the point I was talking about.
I appreciate that this thread .......
oh, whatever.
I'm sorry to have caused offence. I'm sorry I made you angry too. I do also care about animals and I've only spoken in support of banning fireworks for the safety of humans and animals. I value a human's life higher than a dog's - if that makes me a bad person, then so be it, but it doesn't mean that I don't value the dog's life at all.
lets face it, fireworks are pretty boring! wooooosh *bang* ahhhhhh! light the next one daddy-o! unless u go to an organized event which can b quite entertaining i really don't see the point as they are RUBBISH!!
and as for the eeidyots who play with fireworks, a taste of their own medicine wouldn't really go amiss! see how they smile with a lit firework up the jackzee! anyone who is happy to blow up a dog and/or film it isn't really going to be missed by society as a whole!
J-Bug - to answer your question - the reason I put the links up, is because I saw your question and typed fireworks into google news. It came up with those links from 'sensible' sources. It also came up with links from The Sun & The Mirror.
Not having a go or anything, but you asked a question, I was curious too and googled it. I then posted it.
And no, I am not anyone else, never have been and never will be.
10ClarionSt, you have really gone off the Boil. You have MISSED the point completely, Most agree to Bonfire night being a tradition that should continue, what we disagree with is the SALE of Fireworks to the Public , Nov 5th should be kept at that day, NOT WEEKS before .. and then weeks AFTER, Novermber the 5th as you so rightly keep POINTING out !!! Keep it to Nov 5th .. As regards to Wild animals, any decent organisation would Hold an event where there would be no wild animals in the vicinity that would or could be harmed in anyway .Wild animals wont hang around areas where there are crowds of people , they would hide till we have gone, We are not hypocrites, we are just thinking of others instead of ourselves, like you obviously Do.
