That is very easy to say afterwards though. Two intruders unexpectedly, at least one armed. It was an impulsive reaction. What would you expect? I'm impressed he didn't just give in.

I asked the question spath because you often have a pop at the elderly on here and as you admit to loving your elderly relatives, I reckon you ARE a wind up merchant! For the record, I am 100% on this elderly man's side and my heart bleeds for all he has had to go through, through no fault of his own.

Clearly an act of self defence if the report is to believed. However, someone has died, so it is right and proper that an arrest has been made. It would become anarchy if the police were to ignore it. I very much doubt if the homeowner will actually be convicted of murder.
