It has been pretty clear from the begining that the whole sorry mess was wrong. Plod put their hands up and admitted it, what gets me most about this is the arrogance of the BBC thinking they can get away with it. They should have stuck their hands up too in the beginning, I doubt Sir Cliff would have made a massive fuss after that and everyone could have moved on. But no, BBC liberal bigwigs can never be wrong can they?

The Police and the BBC - two organisations that knew about what Jimmy Savile was doing for years and LET IT CONTINUE, go on to compound that first wrong by massively over-reacting to accusations against Cliff Richard (among others).

The basis for this action seems to be privacy ( the action against Plod was in something else) - and altho Eadie was very keen to develop this branch of civil law, other judges including the Lord Chief Justice are deffo less keen.

Go to court and lose - is well known. Look at Andrew Mitchell - tapes the police fed lying - and then loses a libel action based on it ! - and had to pay mega-costs because a bag carrier had missed a deadline by 48 h.

Try not to post ridiculous things T³. There's a world of difference being happy to experience something unpleasant and claiming it's something one should be able to sue over. But of course that's obvious to all. Well most anyway.

as I understand it, the BBC didn't go rootling around down the back of his sofas, they just filmed the police raid from a helicopter. I don't think that goes beyond their brief of covering the news. You could well argue that the police shouldn't have told them about the search warrant, and the police have already admitted that and apologised. But I have helicopters hovering overhead a lot, and if they want to film a cop knocking on my door, well, shrug.
