There are perfectly honourable and good arguments against airstrikes etc, and good arguments in favour of parliant being allowed a vote, although I don't presonally agree.
What I find baffling is people's refusal at least to believe that the obvious has been happening vis a vis chemical weapons.
Yeah, who'd want to kill those lads from ISIS, Nom?

What exactly do you mean by "the obvious"?

No one doubts that c.w. have been used, but there is no concrete evidence that they have been sanctioned by either Assad or Putin (unless you know something beyond speculation)
but there is plenty of independent evidence that they have been used by ISIS, 52 times in fact.

Do you think he targets ISIS and ISIS alone, Spicey?
No, there's an alphabet soup of anti-Assad rebels.
They are all Sunni Islamist terrorist scum.

I am trouble keeping up here: the last word was it was not a gas attack at all but a stunt staged by Britain and others. With curiously parentless kids being washed down by "camera conscious" medics, or something along those lines. The plain implication being that it was all faked.
As I have said before, this is the problem with the case for the "defence": it's all totally contradictory. If it was a police drama series the cops would be tearing holes in the suspect's statements the lawyers would be going nuts :-)
I am not hundred per cent convinced about the chemical attacks . Something didn't seem quite right. Wouldn't be at all surprised if Isis had arranged them just to set US and Russia against one another. Ironic that only yesterday there was a thread regarding foreign aid payments and today we are bombing one of the countries that we send aid to.
I think it would have been a major coup by ISIS, given they have never had a presence in Ghouta/Douma, and they're all but defeated in the areas where they did hold sway.
I keep seeing our much missed Mikey in related posts :-(

Anyway, check out this one...

The area in which the chemical attack happened is held by Jaysh-al-Islam, a similar radical Islamic/jihadist faction. No independent investigators have yet been able to get there (or if they have they are just arriving today). Why exactly did this action have to take place so urgently, before any verification about their source came in? Why is the UK bothering with an expensive and pointless walk-on effort ?
Yes NoMercy I’ve thought about Mikey a lot also ...
Russia of course vetoed an independent investigation. Apparently OPCW investigators are on their way but the Russians gave already cast doubt on that organisation’s credibility, so you don’t need to be Mystic Meg to foresee that any sort of unfavourable conclusions will simply be rejected

Try to keep up. Chemical weapons have been used during the 7 years and by ISIS for sure, but whether or not they have been used by Assad is not for sure, and if you look around, you will see that more and more people believe, what I've been saying all day that this looks like a put up job as an excuse to invade.

It's all to do with a last ditch stand by the US to remove Assad (no chance) so that the proposed pipeline can be built from Qatar across Syria, through Turkey, to the Med. and into Europe which neither he nor Putin will allow.
Well, thanks for clearing that up Khandro :-)
‘An excuse to invade’

Except no one has invaded Syria ...

//so that the proposed pipeline can be built from Qatar across Syria, through Turkey, to the Med. and into Europe//

Do "We" know the proposed route of this pipeline? Qatar is a looong way from Syria. Saudi Arabia, Iraq or Jordan, may have "influence" on the ultimate directions taken. To say nothing of Israel and "Lebanon. If a pipeline for oil is the aim it is, although longer, possibly more expedient to route it across Egypt, Libya, and up to Tunis and onwards to Italy?
Togo I can show you the route tomorrow, but for now you should all watch this 12 minute video I've just found on the net, what more can I say? This is where it's at;
