Because naomi24 directed a comment to me (at 22:40) saying that “other people may have something to say about the attack” and at that point, all she had done was direct comments at other posters.
That’s what I meant with my original comment. We’ve now got to a point where we are talking not about the attacks themselves, but the reaction to the attacks...

I don't see a problem with someone posting news items like this. Quite often I hear news such as celebrity deaths on here and news of these car/lorry crash killings is usually brought to us within minutes.
The problem is that aa lot of posters start making comments (eg why are the BBC not giving us a description, nudge nudge wink wink ) and speculating before the facts are known. I'm not sure what Zac's issue is here though- unless he thinks this is just another way to renew discussions on race, Muslims, immigration, 'mental health' etc.

Yes, the name was mentioned earlier by a couple of posters.No we don't know the reasons yet - the only statement was about it not being thought to relate to national security.
I am not sure what the issue is some have with Talbot posting the news last night.It was factual and didn't neccessarily lead the discussion down the usual route as happened with what I saw as provocative title last time

Zacs, I can’t see where Talbot assumed that people here were reading this news for the first time or where he was rude. I don’t watch television or listen to radio 24/7 so Talbot’s post was the first I’d heard of this incident. Likewise news of the Stephen Lawrence memorial day, the birth of the Cambridge’s baby, and the death of the marathon runner reached me through these pages. Last night I was of the opinion that you were grinding an axe.
