Should Twitter, Facebook, Answerbank, Be Allowed To Ban People.

Thousand turned up in London today to demonstrate about Tommy Robinson being banned by Twitter. He broke their terms and conditions of membership, and was banned earlier this year. Twitter is a business, and the ban was intended to protect their company from views that will bring the company into ill repute. Robinson could have followed the rules he signed up to when he joined, but didn’t.

Are the ragbag of far right protestors wasting their time, when the solution (i.e. following the rules) starring them in the face?

He broke the rules, it's as simple as that. You act up in a pub you get barred. I can't see why social media should be any different.

There is no 'free speech' on any platform any more, only what providers deem suitable.

No point in getting exercised about it, the world is a PC midden and it's too far gone to be saved. Any criticism or question of owners/managers is simply deleted with no comeback possible so suck it up and hope that one day a more broad-minded approach comes back round.

if you want free speech, don't use someone else's platform: their house, their rules. Build your own house. Same goes for AB. Nobody contributes a penny to the site, they just expect free speech to be handed to them on a plate.

I assume management appoint minions because they don't have time to do everything themselves (because users don't pay them anything, so they have to make money by hiring out their car park for raves). And posts complaining about editorial decisions get deleted because they also don't have time to go back and redo the decisions they didn't have time to do in the first place.

Seriously: it's a free site. Use it if you want. If you're unhappy with its rules, don't use it. Other websites are available.

You have to take into account all of your users. I don't agree with many of the mods/Ed's decisions but the rules have been made clear.

Tommy Robinson posted factual statistics... he was banned for posting the unpalatable truth.

RobinsonsTweets were very tame compared to many who don't get banned or censored.
