Should The Lords Be ‘Axed’

I’m not sure whether the term ‘axed’ is appropriate - like the removal of a British institution should be treated like a reality TV programme on Channel Five:

But do you think that the Lords should now be axed because it is so out of step with what the British public want (with regards to Brexit)?

There was a debate a few years ago and I remember somebody assuming that because of my AB name, I must either be a judge or something in the legal profession. I recall saying I am not a judge (or ever have been) simply to illustrate that there need be no connection between our AB names and real life. I seem to recall pointing out that many other users had names which could be misconstrued.

I would neither deny it nor confirm it. As I said, I don't generally divulge personal details online.

How come you miss the point of everything, entirely? Were you like this at school?
NJ is not a judge. We established that probably about 10 years ago. Maybe longer! What we’re debating here is the fact that he criticised a profession for dressing up in ‘archaic’ clothing when the very profession he is/was part of does exactly the same.

Lots of people have knowledge of legal processes and procedures. Other professions not associated with M'Learned Friends spend time in courts. On here many provide valuable legal advice. Buenchico is a prime example. He knows his way around sentencing guidelines and is able to explain the sentencing process very well to those who ask "What will I (or my ex or my partner) get for knocking seven bells out of somebody in the pub?" As far as I know, the nearest 'Chico got to the legal profession was a spell as a will-writer.

Whether I am or am not associated with the legal profession is nobody's business on here. I don't claim or disclaim to have any specialist knowledge. Any advice I give is as "an enthusiastic amateur". My remarks about Lords in their Ermine robes were about Lords in their Ermine robes, and not judges, bishops or pantomime dames.
