No cyclists accpeting that lycra louts exist then?

You can post all the pictures you like but it won't change the fact there are some dangerous cyclists out there just like there are dangerous motorists. Like the one that stuck his hand out and just turned immediately - without looking. Jeeez.

I am 100% happy with cyclists who use country lanes, I even join them but yes the 'lycralouts' (not heard that one before) on the main roads are indeed often dangerous and oblivious to other road users. The issue is they travel so fast that you need 100 ms clearance and some acceleration to get past them - or you sit behind them holding everyone up. If I were dolled up in lycra I'm sure I'd show some consideration for motorists.
Baldric.....thank you but I'll give that a miss....there is nothing that attracts me to a penny farthing now... :-(

Yes, I'm going to pass on that as well.
Not unlike being behind another car then, Prudie.....just, as has been said, give the cyclist consideration and don't just assume you have to or need to be in front regardless of the road conditions just because you're in a car.....x
I think, having watched that, Baldric my problem would be my one leg long and one leg short....I could spend some time going around in circles.... :-)
Don't see why I have to drive at 30 on a 60mph road just cos of a cyclist in front of me Gness, There are bad and very bad on both sides of the argument. The guys in all the gear are a different breed to the pleasure cyclists that this is all about. Just saying.
Because to drive safely, Prudie you drive according to the road conditions.......and the cyclist, who is no less entitled to use the road as you are, is temporarily causing you to need to drive slower than the speed limit.....
She/he won't be in front of you for the rest of your life....just until you can overtake safely......
Should we not cycle because you don't like to have to slow down now and again? I don't think it happens that often..x
It happens to me absolutely every day that I drive to work. Let's leave it there, I did say earlier that I am not talking about pleasure cyclists.

spath,
Oh dear, there’s always one.....
Well actually no, there are plenty, fully prepared to display their ignorance and lack of research/knowledge:

https://www.carwow.co.uk/blog/road-tax-doesnt-exist

By the way, I already pay a VEL for my car and as my bicycle would be zero rated anyway, what do you suggest?
Oh and I have cycle insurance via Wiggle.

Mallyj,
Your village called. You’re needed back there ASAP, it would appear you’re missing.

Oh dear, when it's not going well, resort to insults.
Question Author
Well, how idiotic do you have to be to suggest pavement stingers for bikes? A&E would be full of children who’d been ‘stung’ because their parents specifically told them not to ride in the road because of the attitude of some motorists.
What a hoot....village? No .. major city! Interesting that you assume that I drive a car...I don't because there are similar number of nut cases on the road in cars!! I just am a tad fed up with having bicycle bells rung at me as I walk along a pavement...and the rudeness if I don't immediately leap into the road to get out of the way of fools on bikes breaking the law...and , despite what you appear to think of me, I am not stupid enough to believe that all cyclists are inconsiderate by riding on pedestrian areas.....but says a lot about you that you think that I am...sigh....
ChillDoubt, I pay VED on my car and motorcycle, why shouldn't you pay VED on your bicycle which is also a vehicle? It doesn't have to be motorised, even a sledge is a vehicle.

Interesting that you assume that I drive a car..
————-
Where did I assume that? Maybe you’re confused with my response to spath.

I made the assumption that you were idiotic for suggesting pavement stingers for bikes, which is a reasonable one to make IMHO.
Or maybe you enjoy seeing children(who invariably ride on pavements more than any other demographic) injured by some draconian idiocy, is that it?

So you approve of cyclists on the pavement?

(Sigh) For the hard of understanding, please read the earlier link. My bicycle (just like many modern vehicles on the road) would fall into Category A which means that I would not be required to pay VED.
As I said earlier, I do however pay it for the car that I own.
I passed a lady riding a horse earlier and guess what? Her and Mr Gee-gee wouldn’t have to pay either!! How unfair is that?!?!
Please think and research before posting on this subject, I implore you.
NOBODY pays ROAD TAX because NO SUCH TAX EXISTS. Vehicle owners pay for a VEL but many cars, bicycles, horses, motor scooters, sledges(not seen many sledges on roads but I’ll keep an eye out, sounds like a major infringement of the Road Traffic Act), soap-box carts and roller blades do not, they are not obliged to BY LAW.
Here endeth the sermon, I trust I have amused and enlightened you, though I sincerely doubt the former!
Question Author
Not at all Baldric but I advocate it for children and those who are learning to ride.
Nor do I advocate drink/drug driving, motorists parking/driving in cycle lanes, driving in bus lanes, speeding or dodging VED.
I advocate safe cycling, riding and driving to the Highway Code, helmets ought to be compulsory and I’d like to see more cyclists reprimanded/finedfor having no lights. Mostly, I’d prefer a proper and decent cycling infrastructure like they have in most other European countries, but hey-ho. The benefits of it are endless, if not to fight the obesity time bomb that will hit in the next few decades.
Do you advocate stingers for children on pavements then?

///Do you advocate stingers for children on pavements then?///

Show me where I supported that idea.
