But just to highlight the fact that they are not just picking on Islam they announce that the threat from 'extreme right-wing terrorism' was also growing and four plots had been disrupted since March last year.

Would they be four planned peaceful marches of protest?

aog, //neither can a person be called a terrorist until they have actually carried out an act of terrorism. //

I'd dispute that - and fortunately for us so would our security services.
///Just as a person cannot be called a bricklayer until they have laid a brick, neither can a person be called a terrorist until they have actually carried out an act of terrorism. ///

I shall be watching closely to see if you extend that rationale even-handedly across the board when 'other' potential terrorist acts occur....
//neither can a person be called a terrorist until they have actually carried out an act of terrorism. //

Err wrong!
AOG,nothing to do with the BBC there is a white supremacy movement in the UK and also in America.
// a person [cannot] be called a terrorist until they have actually carried out an act of terrorism.

You may want to rethink that AOG.

/// AOG,nothing to do with the BBC there is a white supremacy movement in the UK and also in America. ///

There is no mention that Ethan Stables is a member of any white supremacy group, in fact I doubt if there are such groups in the UK. Granted there are some groups that are against the rise of Islam, but then one can be white and also follow that religion.

I think that you are getting mixed up with a 'suspected' terrorist.
AOG, Ethan Stables is a Neo-Nazi i.e a white supremacist.;
// I think that you are getting mixed up with a 'suspected' terrorist. //

It is you that is mixed up.
Someone who plans a terrorist attack is a terrorist. A prosecution confirms the facts and the punishment. From the moment they begin to plan they are committing a crime.
Eeee, some reet ould tripe on here today.
Gromit, head and brick wall come to mind.
Headline from the Daily Mail, "Nazi white supremacist who plotted machete attack on LBGT event and joked 'Gay people are much nicer when they are on fire' is detained in hospital indefinitely"

They seemed think he's a white supremacist.

Let’s not get too tied up on semantics here.

I think most people will agree that someone who plans to commit an act of terrorism (and purchases explosive materials, as this person did) whether they go through with it or not - is a terrorist.

I understand where you’re coming from - you’re thinking that if someone plans to rob a bank, but gets foiled the day before, then they’re not a robber.

It’s a very fine distinction.

You are a one to quote the Daily Mail after all you and others have said about their sensationalism .
I think he was pointing out that your favourite rag thinks he's a WS. You generally believe everything they print to I think TCL was surprised that you seem to be going against your bible.

No he would be an attempted robber, couldn't be classed as a true robber until he had actually robbed someone.

No unlike you lefties who stick by the lefty's agenda no matter how wrong it can sometime be, the right are free to criticise their press, their party, their politicians or their views if they think them to be wrong.

It is amazing that whenever we are having such a discussion there are those who will quickly to label some as Nazis, a now defunct political party, yet won't hear a word of criticism against the rise of an equally evil regime, that being Islam.
AOG. for your enlightenment
