Italy is refusing to allow a boat with over 600 migrants to dock at it's ports. https://news.sky.com/story/italy-shuts-ports-to-rescue-ship-carrying-over-600-migrants-11401125. Good on Italy. I bet you ask those migrants where they're aiming for, I bet they say England!!

My grandpa also fought for this country in WW2. I'm just glad he's not here to see what has happened to Britain since we stopped defending our borders.
illegal immigration needs to be addressed...we do not have the resources to care for our own population adequately....
Kromo, yes. I prefer animals to humans by and large.

By all means criticise my stance on economic migrants when you are willing to offer your spare room to one of them, and only if you can guarantee that no elderly homeowner will be harmed or child raped by the poor, poor migrants for whom you have seemingly limitless sympathy.

And, for the love of God, no one has wished death on these people!
Absolutely we don't. We all know that. But to compare them to animals!!!
Of course it does, Minty.....but some of the comments here....comments about other human beings.....children....pregnant women are just awful.

I don't mind or care what anyone here feels about immigration......but to dismiss people in the way they've been written about here is heartless and cruel.
Once again ... I did NOT compare them to animals. Please stop twisting people's words.
NoM actually David Small suggested sinking the boats so I think that's not only happenchance death that's murder. I too will bow out of this thread because we are all so far apart on what we think and believe it would be fruitless to continue and there are a lot of people on here I like and I don't want to end up not liking if we wade into a full blown row about this, which is where it's going to head. Have a great day everyone but please question yourselves a bit, this isn't right.
Just heard on the news, there is another boat load heading towards Herne Bay, OMG.
i prefer animals to humans and reading some of the responses on this page, they don't do anything to change my view.
These are real people, people who are probably terrified, hungry, thirsty and some on here are wishing death on them - that isn't the way to solve a migration crisis and is abhorrent to say the least.
I don't know what the answer is but I'm certainly not going to be flippantly wishing death on these poor people.
I agree G... politicians need to do more to stop this situation occurring in the first instance...

/// how exactly can people fleeing them be termed economic migrants? ///

Because they don't migrate south into their own continent and where there are no treacherous seas to cross.

And since most of them are men, they could of course stay in their own country and fight to improve their conditions.
And folk on this thread would do well to read what is there; not what they wish is there so they can be offended, and then get all uptight about it. Some posters no longer care as they have decided enough is enough, others seem to want to let all and sundry enter illegally as long as they've put themselves in danger; but hopefully most still want to stop the invasion of economic immigrants, stop them putting themselves in danger in the first place, (which won't happen if one is willing to go get them) and don't see humour as degrading. Threads go off subject when folk just moan at or about other posters.
Enough is enough, well done Italy.

Illegal immigration has to stop people fished out of the water need to be returned to the country/continent they came from (not difficult as the boats used will barely go a few miles)

Currently these 'rescue' boats are doing the work of the people trafficker for them. The traffickers know that sticking them in an unseaworthy boat will mean, if they are lucky enough to be picked up, they will be taken to the paid destination - for free. In other words our do-gooders are the ones assisting in the drowning not those that say stop encouraging it.
ummmm
/// I'm an immigrant. But my grand father fought for this country. He didn't just fight...but he was injured, life changing. ///

I am assuming that your grandfather was not British and he fought in WW2, if so then he was not fighting for this country, he was fighting for his own country, taking into consideration that it was a World War.
Spin it anyway you like, OG......but some of us were sickened, not at the opinions of some on this thread, all opinions are personal and valid.
It was the facetious and uncaring...almost gleeful posts that were stomach turning.
And are you an illegal then Ummm? Because that is what is under discussion here not legal immigrants who contribute and integrate and in my opinion are very valuable.
You are wrong, AOG....my Irish grandfather and two of my uncles fought for your country in WW2.
gness, when I read through it I was quite amazed at how many posts were (possibly deliberate) spun, in fact in some cases people being accused of writing things they didnt.

For a start they should stop ‘rescuing’ these people from their own shore line. They are sent out 50 to 60 people in a rubber dinghy that wouldn’t last in open waters.

In reality I doubt even any posters on here would want to see them dead but the rest of the world, the west and in particular Europe should not be sending boats out to their coasts acting as the taxi version of the RNLI.

Good for Italy. They have grown a pair.

Anyone who thinks the people on these boats should be given free rain to come is welcome to fund their every whim. But be prepared to work to death yourself because you will be having to pay for them forever. And when one has moved on another will take its place.
