Pound World has gone into administration. I assume they will have a closing down sale. How much do you think the items will be marked down? I may look in and see if I can pick up a few bargains. Will it become '10p World' for a while?

Is that Poundworld or Poundworld and more LOL

It is a shame when any retailer employing so many people go under but how much tat can people keep buying from all these £ shops.
I'm concerned that you find the news of yet another high street branch being in trouble amusing, Eddie. There's a very worrying trend happening. I wouldn't want to be 'in retail' or high street restaurants at the moment.
It's always a shame when people lose their jobs. I remember when Poundland floated and kept ahead of the game. I guess Poundworld just got left behind.
Poundworld, Poundland, Poundstretcher, I get confused. As far as I am aware there isn't a Poundworld near me; the local Poundstretcher has closed because of fierce competition from B & M Bargains. There seems to be a plethora of tat shops these days. Eventually they will all go the way of Woolworth 's.
Poundland isn't too strong either
There was a rumour that Poundstretcher was going to merge with Marks and Spencer and become Stretch Marks.
It is sad another one bites the dust.

We don't have a PoundWorld, but we do have a Poundland, Poundstretcher and Home Bargains.
LOL!
I thought it was 99p Store that had gone into administration?
The last supermarkt in our town centre, the CO-OP, has closed. Unless you wish to shop at Iceland or the small Sainsbury's convenience store you now have to go out of town. There are two Morrison's near to me, one of which I can see closing by Xmas because of the new Aldi which has opened nearby.

Zacs I'm not 'amused'. It is worrying and I can't see a solution. A £1 shop does not have online competition but still it goes under.
It seems to all part of the same problem. Technology is taking over a huge % of all jobs. I am glad I'm retired now after more than 50 years working. I can't see much employment being available to my Grandchildren.
Sadly the High Street is one of the major casualties of the internet age. Why traipse around shops when you can get almost everything from the comfort of your own armchair?
Ever increasing shop rents knock out businesses. Empty outlets are ripe for housing development, that rewards increased finance
BM bargains were taking over Heron foods and poundstretcher have always sold a lot of dearer tat, I know combine all the tat stores under one roof and call it Woolworths. It is sad as many of the jobs are in already very poor areas. Shop work was always an option for young women especially.
not sure why you are so gleeful, Eddie, it's a lot of peoples jobs etc, the sort of thing you are normally concerned about. Anyway, basically shopping by going to the shop is dying.
"A £1 shop does not have online competition but still it goes under. " - yee gods and little fishes!

TTT. Online shopping has been blamed for all the other retail failures recently. I was pointing out the Pound shops can't blame the same thing.
of course they can! You can buy everything on line, who wants to go to a shop? Doesn't matter what they sell even if it's cheaper, at that end of the scale, 20p more to buy on line doesn't matter.
I wonder where the AB loonies will get their ideas from now?

Is the Beano still going?
