But that hope is looking rather faint. I’m delighted he’s going to marry Mr Kim at Windsor (London is too dangerous of course) but I think it’ll take more than that

Pinochet, despite murdering many of his own people, was very helpful to the UK when we were fighting the Argies. He was a friend to Britain, and Thatcher was very grateful.
Not sure you can call Galloway/Saddam Hussain an alliance. It certainly did not benefit either party. Galloway took the lefty anti-war stance on Iraq, while ignoring Saddam’s gasing of his own people. His support for Saddam was more of a cynical and opportunistic publicity stunt.

The legacy of leaders is very much about being in the right place at the right time.
Historical events which may have occurred anyway, can be attributed to the leader who was around at the time, even if he or she had little or nothing to do with influencing those events.
The Korean situation is a prime example.
I seriously doubt that Kim is dis-arming his country because of anything to do with Trump, but history may accord Trump the accolade of having made it happen.
