A taxi driver in St Petersburg it is reported took a Mexican female fan on a 2km trip on Nevski Prospekt and tried to charge her £80 equivalent. When she protested he tried to stop her leaving the cab and she had to be rescued.
A Nigerian fan who was drunk and singing on the top balcony of an apartment was thrown over the edge when he ignored requests to be quiet.
There also reports of gay fans being attacked, however there seems some doubt as to how accurate they are.
Talbot; I'm intrigued. Just which countries would you have had "complete trust in" to run an incident free World Cup? My answer would be "none". The common denominator in terrorist attacks (if that's what it was) are 'soft targets'. And they exist in every country on this planet. No amount of policing can possibly ensure 100% protection from such cowardly acts.
Looks very suspicious but my guess is we will never know the truth.
However I also doubt very much whether the Russian authorities will be giving him tea and cake either, probably arranging right now his trip to Siberia. So perhaps some consolation.
