Honestly, do the Establishment think we were all born yesterday? I know the luvie Libs (they'll be along in a mo I'm sure) but they are a minority.

Wrong thread
fiction-factory. //Like Mamyalynne I'm not sure why the authorities said anything at this stage other than " someone has been arrested"//

Well, it’s worked in deflecting suspicion from a more likely cause in the past. Mentally ill? Ahhh, right. And breathe.

//i realise some feel the need to know the name or skin colour too//

Some do – but that information won’t necessarily lead them to the answer. Who’d a guessed that Richard Reid would become the infamous shoe bomber?
Question Author
Quite Naomi, unfortunately some still seem to thing Islam is a race and not a religion across all races.
YMB, fiction-factory, like so many, appears to fall into the trap of confusing criticism of Islam with racism. It’s a useful method of attack, I suppose. At least it avoids addressing the real issues.
Yes, but people certainly like to know the name (we get threads saying why don't they name them) and if it sounds immigranty they draw a conclusion.
"Well, it’s worked in deflecting suspicion from a more likely cause in the past. Mentally ill? Ahhh, right. And breathe. "
I don't see that it works. It doesn't convince you for a start- it just causes more suspicion. But are you suggesting that if it was a terror attack the news won't come out? I don't see any point in deflecting it temporarily- unless of course they don't want to alert accomplices that they are on their case, in which case I'd welcome it if it helped catch them
You are so patronising and deluded by your belief in your superior knowledge Naomi. Where have I confused criticism of Islam with racism? You make these things up. Non sequiteurs abound on AB
Of course they were mentally unwell. The article says they went around yelling Allahu Akbar at folk. Started stabbing folk too. How many clues do you need ?
Some would say OG that anyone who supports Islam strongly must have a some form of mental illness
FF 07:55.

First sentence.

We all obviously need educating. Thank goodness someone is willing to share their superior knowledge ;-/
fiction-factory, //I don't see that it works//

Clearly.

//Where have I confused criticism of Islam with racism? You make these things up. //

I make nothing up. You mentioned skin colour, not I.

Me patronising? No. Realistic.
>I make nothing up. You mentioned skin colour, not I.

Maybe you get satisfaction from twisting things. I said some (on AB) like to know the skin colour or the name of the attackers in these cases and draw conclusions when the name sounds immigranty.

I didn't say or imply I confused race and religion. You wrongly inferred it because you like to make that point when it suits . It would be nice if you admitted you were wrong sometimes (apologies if I've missed you apologising somewhere before)
fiction-factory. I don't twist things. You said what you said.
Exactly. I said what I said- not what you wanted me to have said. Fortunately i've got to start work now so you can carry on and attribute more things to me that i didn't say if it makes you feel good.
Off you go. Have a good day.
Well the authorities have taken action against dangerous Far-Right groups, by banning them, makes one wonder why they haven't done the same against certain dangerous religious groups.
I'm saying what I put, FF. Anyone who starts yelling out their religion at the general public has issues.

And many of them Islamic I see.

Ah, the fashionable mental illness tag.
Of course there are people who have a genuine mental illness, but as it’s so ‘in vogue’ at the moment, It comes in very handy for the weak, the attention seekers and the downright evil.

Doctors seek to give human aberration a recognised medical label, because they cannot define medically what the rest of us see as wickedness of the most despicable kind. Having a mental illness does not absolve anyone from responsibility for their actions.

It’s funny how in so many cases, any “voices” or mental illness often seem to be concealed from those around them.
‘Normal’ criminals can be cunning, clever and determined not to be found out. That is the hallmark of any criminal, not just those with mental illness.
