she seems to have got through one wall to find breeze blocks, and another and found a picture which she thought was another obstacle she couldn't get through. She broke a ppipe, which sprayed water over her and presumably lowered her temperature. She died of hypothermia. People thought the noise they heard was building works.
I suppose if she'd paid, nobody would have any particular reason to check that she was still there.
After that quote about the blocks behind the wall the report then says
Mrs Isherwood managed to make a hole in another wall.
Mr Pritchard Jones said: "Unfortunately on the other side of the wall was a picture. She had been able to break a hole completely through that wall. I think the presence of the picture meant she didn’t realise. She probably thought she couldn’t get out.”
Poor lady. A very unpleasant way to die. If only she'd taken her mobile with her she might well be still alive. That is why I always have my mobile about my person, purely for emergencies.
Thing is though if you got up in the night for a waz you wouldnt take your mobile.
It's easy to get disorientated i've had it happen a few times although i was travelling a lot and in different hotels. Also done the wardrobe trick much to the annoyance of the wife :-(
Just thinking about this again, every airing cupboard I've ever known had a boiler/heater and shelves which you would bump into if you walked into it by accident. Or are there big roomy airing cupboards in some houses?
Yes, it must have been quite a big room- a walk-in airing cupboard- for there to be room for the door to close behind her without her getting in the way
After her initial efforts to get out, she probably thought she'd rest til morning and then try again, not realising the danger of hypothermia because of the water.
I think once that kicks in you're not even aware how cold you are and start to feel warm and sleepy.
