Not sure why this is news. Councils and social housing providers have been doing this for years with any form of anti social behaviour.
Andy - when did you become a psychiatrist? You have no clue what criminals think.

In my life of growing up in pubs 'violent criminals' could mean anything.
AOG, sorry that you cannot understand plain English.There may not be any children in the family,hence the and/or.
I can respond to this in so many ways.
But one thing that comes to mind is that homeless numbers will rise. The families will not be able to afford the private sector and the councils will end up putting them in B and Bs.. .you and I will pay...as will society.

/// A politician who speaks a Mail-friendlsy sound-bite without thinking it through first, ///

The usual cop-out from a so called anti-Daily Mail Brigade member, blames the newspaper for reporting on what has already been employed in North London, and has the support of a Home Office minister and police commander of London central north.

/// because it gets a knee-jerk thumbs-up from Mail readers who think with their tempers first. ///

Since you have told us in the past that you yourself actually take delivery of the Daily Mail, perhaps you are "thinking with your temper first"?

No you are wrong, the homeless numbers won't rise, their vacant properties will be filled with more law abiding families.

/// The families will not be able to afford the private sector and the councils will end up putting them in B and Bs.. .you and I will pay...as will society. ///

We are already paying to house undesirables.

Well what you put is not English (plain or otherwise)

If there may not be children how can it be:

/// No, the violent criminal is usually a male and his wife and/or children are not responsible for his actions. ///

Perhaps you should consider:

No, the violent criminal is usually a male, (notice the comer) and his wife (with or without children) are not responsible for his actions.
//(notice the comer)//
I presume that you mean comma.Or perhaps it is your version of English.
I'm not sure why this is news. The power has been in existence for years. Indeed most new council tenancies include a clause which allows possession to be obtained on conviction of most crimes.

Not me Gov. Blame it on my Chinese phone.
ummmm - // Andy - when did you become a psychiatrist? You have no clue what criminals think. //

I am not a psychiatrist, but I am willing to bet that my analysis is sound.

// In my life of growing up in pubs 'violent criminals' could mean anything. //

I think it means they are criminals, and they are violent, can't see much room for any other interpretation.

I am not a 'so-called member' of anything, thank you very much.

I never think with my temper first - but then, I am not a typical Daily Mail reader.
Makes sense.
The people in motgaged property should equally have their ageements terminated for the sane reason.
Kick them out. Don’t rehouse them. We’ve been too soft too long.
Seems to be something in the water today.
it's the nice sunny weather, douglas, everyone wants to see more dossers out on the street.
andy-hughes at 14:16 Sat, of course people who commit crimes think. They know exactly what they're doing. They take the chance that they won't be caught, that's all.
They could just get into a fight in a pub with no intention of doing so.
good idea, should help clean up dodge.
AH: "Once again this approach presumes a mental process that simply does not exist - 'If I act like a criminal, my family will lose their home ...'. - on that basis should we bother with any sort of action as it is inevitable? So society is basically helpless in the face face of criminal scum? what do you suggest?
