Yer, does the type of person who watches such rubbish, really hold such a knowledge of politics?

Oops! Silly me.

Just to satisfy anyone who isn’t happy with this way this discussion is progressing, no, people taking part in reality television shows shouldn’t be kicked off for holding opinions that others may disagree with.
Brilliant.

I love the fact that it’s a Love Island contestant who has been outed as a Tommy Robinson supporter.

As opposed to a University Challenge contestant, or someone who may have appeared on Only Connect.
Does the type of person who watches such rubbish, really hold such a knowledge of politics.

Or...

Does the type of person who appears in such rubbish, really hold such a knowledge of politics.

This woman should absolutely NOT be booted off the programme. It’s ridiculous to suggest anything of the sort. She should do what she’s on the show to do - have sexual intercourse with someone she’s known for 18 minutes, and then talk about it for a very long time.
sp, You watch it then. Is that really what happens on that show? Serious question.
From the link:

//The 22-year-old customer service and office administrator's Facebook page showed two shared posts seemingly adding her support for the violent criminal campaigner, who is currently behind bars for contempt of court.//

So that's told Mirror readers, SP and the prejudiced [VE: legal allusion - geddit?] everything they need to know about Tommy Robinson.

And her "support" for the "violent criminal campaigner" consists of this:

//... Ellie adding three 'OK' emojis to a video post by a man who captioned it: "LONDON. I'm not a racist, but this guy speaks sense! he is branded a racist by many.. wether he is or isn't that's non of my business. I just know he speaks the truth."
The video was of Robinson... an alt-right rally in London, in which he branded Islam an "infestation" and called for martial law to "destroy this enemy"//

and this:

//Ellie's second post was three clapping emojis on a video link of Robinson ranting at the camera, which had been captioned: "Tommy Robinson: 'Why do we let these terrorists back into our country?' (Strong language)."//

I haven't seen either of these videos. Has anybody else? Leaving aside the "infestation" and "destroy this enemy" bits in "hate crime" 1, what's wrong with the "Why do we let these terrorists back into our country?" bit in "hate crime" 2?
//I haven't seen either of these videos. Has anybody else? //

I don't believe I have.
And nobody yet has even tried to justify their claim that Robinson is a racist. Isn't that strange?

Robinson has generated more hatred in his opponents (against him) than he's ever generated in his "supporters" (against Muslims). The evidence was plain on the thread dealing with his arrest and imprisonment. The joy with which the thirteen month sentence was greeted with the obvious possibility of Robinson's death inside was an unedifying spectacle.

Given what Robinson was angry about and what got him in gaol you might conclude - quite reasonably - that there are people on AB who hate "racists" more than they hate rapists.

You've used that last sentence a few times before, you really don't care for folk here do you?
I think you're absolutely right with that final sentence vetuste_ennemi, and that's why I rarely contribute to these threads.
I just couldn't let the petition nonsense go unchallenged - does she think a petition is a mini referendum?
v_e, //nobody yet has even tried to justify their claim that Robinson is a racist. Isn't that strange?//

Answers to the most fundamental questions are regularly conspicuous by their absence. I’ve asked several times what those who instantly cry racist or bigot when Islam is criticised are actually defending. Is it all of Islam, or just selected snippets of Islam? I’ve yet to receive a response to that one too.

Mamyalynne to v-e, //you really don't care for folk here do you?//

‘Care’? What’s that all about? He’s given his considered opinion based on his assessment of the responses he’s read here. I imagine, like me, he leaves the love-ins to the good people of Chatterbank.
This programme is so 'low-brow' as to not really exhibit any brows, at all......it's peopled by men with chiselled jaws and physiques which indicate they spend far too much time in a gym.......and women who have no desire to be noticed for anything other than the way they look.

If Ellie Jones wishes to support the sentiments of Yaxley/Lennon/Robinson I think she is perfectly entitled.

I also think anyone on AnswerBank is entitled to answer a question without having to give chapter and verse as to where they stand on the issue of Y/L/R.

I also know that there are a few contributors to AB who delight in turning every thread with only a glancing approximation to anything Muslim/Islamic into a full-blown excuse for them to hold-forth with their knowledge and erudition and condemn everyone else for their blindness and complicity.

Tedious doesn't even begin to cover it...
Last para. at 17:46 by naomi - brilliant and totally agree.
Just as there are other contributors jth, especially you, who love to keep pointing this out (your fourth para.) at every opportunity !

So, so tedious ...
LoL.....
I think that's the first time I have ever posted that, although the tempation has been building for quite some while...

Tell me, have you ever actually had an original thought of your own?
Jackthehat, tedium appears to be an occupational hazard for those who don’t like what they’re hearing but have no relevant recourse and so resort to attacking the messenger.
Only when the messenger has misread the sat-nav and wandered into a thread where his/her presence is superfluous.....
Jackthehat, that can’t be right. You’ve criticised contributors who “hold-forth with their knowledge and erudition”. Their presence on such a thread surely isn’t superfluous …. and neither is anyone else’s if they have something they want to say.
So we have a 20-year old know-it-all claiming to speak on behalf of the entire nation! In my opinion, she should get over herself, as clearly everyone else has! (I'm talking about our expert here on Answerbank, not the one on Love Island!) Give Tommy a break, missus, he's never done you a dirty trick, so keep your "moron" slander to someone more deserving (is there a mirror nearby)?
No, I don't think it's the first time you've ever posted such a comment jth, or something similar. If you think I'm fazed by your ridiculous comment about me having an 'original thought of my own', think again. Like many on here, I sometimes comment myself or agree with another poster - par for the course, and I will be carrying on doing just that.
I think Jack the Hat is in competition with another frequent poster for the Sneer of the Year award.
