Elon Musk and Gerald Ratner, never seen in the same room.
I admired his technological vision and drive to come through with stuff but this will take some coming back from.

Bawbag.
Of course it was an allegation......he followed it up with other ones, too.

I quite admire Musk's maverick approach to many things, but this certainly has failed to cover him in any sort of glory.
Calling internet users childish names does not= ALLEGATIONS unless he made an allegation in which he SPECIFICALLY pointed at dates, times and alleged proof. Do we have links for the above?
Get a grip, minkyme - there is one bit of name-calling which goes beyond pretty much any other and that is "Pedo" (even with the American spelling).

Call me just about anything else you want and that's just 'sticks & stones' territory - but call me a Pedo/Paedo and you are going to get sued because of the implications for my life and livelihood.

Musk has behaved like a small child and should be thoroughly ashamed of himself.
// "The mini sub would have worked.. In the exact same way they put the kids on stretchers... The sub was TINY and built to size." //

oh come on and cool off NJ - Rule 1: a usual SUSpect says it on AB
and it's TRUE!

It certainly is ungallant- where do you sue for tweets?
anyone know ?

It's known as libel PP, look it up.
Additionally, he claimed that a British ex-pat living in Thailand was 'sus' (suspect), and offered a signed dollar bill as a bet that his allegation of Unsworthbeing a 'pedo' was true.

In some situations his cave-submarine might be useful but it was impractical in this situation and Musk should have had the good grace to acknowledge that fact.
yeah yeah got that thanks in English Law
this is Thai - he is a Thai resident
it is a question of Where Is It Published
and erm where he sues ( see OP )

published in Amerikee - may well fail as there is the first amendment concerning free speech

( honestly it was a proper question - not a whizzy off-the-mark one liner that we are so used to on... AB )

Question Author
PP it came from the US, under US law the crime is committed their. No doubt there'll be a lot of lawyers offering their services. Free speech does not mean free to libel and slander. If he can back up the allegations then he has no problems. I'd be interested in what evidence he has to support his libel.

their = there
//The mini sub would have worked.. In the exact same way they put the kids on stretchers... The sub was TINY and built to size. //

size, as they sometimes say, isn't everything. it may well have been tiny, and able to squeeze through the, well, squeezes. more importantly though, if full of air, it would be too positively buoyant for the job as it would be very difficult to manoeuvre, particularly down-slope. it could have been weighted to compensate, but then the divers would have had great difficulty lifting it up the slope into cavern 3. all this would have taken an age, for each of the kids; when all said and done, it was quicker to "dive" the kids out in the way they did. nice idea but ultimately impractical, in this instance.
In all honesty they both in hindsight could have handled things better. Neither covered themselves in glory and shifted the attention away from where it should have been
Bedjobs this is what I’m saying, it was only grunting and growling, beating of the chests and asserting male dominance.

If there wasn’t no such thing as slander, libel or any way that you could sue or be sued then people would just have to grow a pair and grow a thicker skin as imo if you’re easily offended, agitated, saddened or enraged by what you read on the web or what is directed at you then you shouldn’t be on the web.
Way, way beyond name calling I’m afraid.
He’s accused a diver who went in to rescue children of bring a paedophile. All because his pride was offended.
I absolutely agree that the other bloke was rude beyond call, but his response was stratospherically inappropriate

minkyme: "If there wasn’t no such thing as slander, libel or any way that you could sue or be sued then people would just have to grow a pair and grow a thicker skin as imo if you’re easily offended, agitated, saddened or enraged by what you read on the web or what is directed at you then you shouldn’t be on the web. " - this isn't about skin thickness or "growing a pair" to be labelled as a paedophile in the modern world is as bad as it gets. Would you be happy, thus labelled? with no evidence? The whole "no smoke without fire" tendency? This horrible little lowlife needs to prove his allegations or pay the price. He may well have accomplished much technically but he has a lot to learn about manners.
Question Author
Musk is a spoilt brat who usually gets his own way reacting in horror when someone doesn't let him, and fails to worship his "genius". As a techie myself I have been an admirer of Musk's achievements, my admiration is now for his staff who must be saintly in their tolerance.
This can go one of a couple of ways...at the moment the stock price for Tesla has taken a beating because of this story. If the price doesn't recover soon, the Musk might bite the bullet and offer an apology and payment to a charity of Mr Unsworth's choosing.

That's the sensible thing to do.

If Mr Musk is a git, then he might front it out, forcing Mr Unsworth to take him to court, and because Elon has the money to tie up the case for years, Mr Unsworth might very well drop the case because of lawyer's costs.
TTT

I have read this thread and agree that Musk is not a nice guy and was totally out of order saying such a thing. As you mention - smoke and fire. Perhaps Musk has made enemies (people like him do) and they would be willing to financially support a lawsuit.

But - I have tried to decipher the thread title of your question and can not work out where April comes into it.
April Showers was the only thing that I could come up with.

SP, with the Musk's money to go after there'll be no shortage of lawyers doing no win no fee and this looks a fairly simple case to me.
Maybe the headlines should be -//ALLEGED FEARLESS CAVE DIVER/EXPLORER EXTRAORDINAIRE IN TEARS OVER NAME CALLING INCIDENT FROM SOMEONE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE WORLD MADE OVER THE INTERNET//
