So, I Am One For Chasing Criminals But Does This Seem A Bit Heavy Handed?

When first reading it I thought it was some other charge and this was the start. But no, the offence was: 'assault by using a straw to fire a chip, hitting a woman in the face'.

Now firstly one does have to wonder how you get a chip(even a manky MaccyD one) into a straw but secondly does this really warrant hours of Police time : "He was arrested and prosecutors took months to build up a case against him," when they claim they dont have resources to go after burglars (even when there are clues/cctv).

Perhaps I have missed something?

Actually no, YMB - there *is* one 'new' poster who is making some mischief, but most of the problem here was a spat between a couple of old-hands who should know better.
Not good is it Ymfb , many are thinking the same.

Resist nourishing the goblin, spath
YMB, don't get going anywhere. Your posts are a welcome relief to me, as well as many others. AB is a humourless, hypersensitive place at this moment in time.
Spath I was here in NI during the troubles so wouldn’t want to see the uk go down the same plug hole.
Have to agree with Ymfb......and Mamya...... :-(

It seems ott but the incident need not have involved police had the mother acted as parent not excuser. Once involved the case would rumble on. It's this lack of parenting that allows the offspring to think they can do anything without consequence, which in turn increases the chance of them being poor citizens in the future. Hopefully the incident may avoid that.
although not nice, no serious injury ensued..so I still think a caution would be more appropriate given police/court resources..and perhaps a fine ? or compo to the "victim"..nothing speaks quite like money to teach a lesson...I doubt he'd do it again...
Minty, he was cautioned
still one awaiting trial Danny
The one subject of the thread was cautioned.
Back in the day he would have got a clip around the ears ,asked to apologise and the matter would have been resolved.
How on earth can you get a chip into a straw and be able to blow it out with enough force to travel any distance ? McDonalds must be selling tiny chips.

I think their straws are quite big because their milkshakes are like wet concrete.
I think they should all have been treated likewise Danny..

Also their chips are quite thin.
"fries" surely ?
No, just thin chips.
