Looks like their daily routine is wake up, have breakfast, tend to crops&animals then revolt, protest, riot then come home to some wine a Brie filled baguette then repeat again tomorrow.

it's a bit unusual for les flics to get involved - they normally stand back and watch. so maybe a bike race IS more important than farmers' livelihoods.

my parents live in Perpignan, in my travels back and forth I have plenty of experience of the regular (in)activity of the authorities when protests are in full swing. it just seems so odd that they should take such a proactive stance when the "tour de france" is involved, unless they were ordered to. on that basis to some, the race takes priority. for the public, a protest just has to be endured with lots of shrugging and the certainty it'll be finished before le weekend.

They're brilliant at protesting - I have to admire them. They blocked all the main roads into Paris with tractors once and at Poitiers there is a huge shopping mall centred on Auchan - about 8 huge entrances - and one morning the farmers willed all the entrances with dung, floor to ceiling!

^^ That is personal experience. Greves are treated with a gallic shrug. Most annoying are the 3kph motorway-blocking tactics.

No matter what your grievance is guy have no right to block roads which is a reckless and selfish thing to do.
Compared to the abuse and violence meted out to Chris Froome and co tho it was harmless tho frustrating
