\\I don’t think it’s that outrageous. A suspect told him ‘x’ and he decided to check out ‘x’ with someone who’d know. And he was told the right course of action.
You can’t expect people to know Iraqi culture.//

\\He wasn’t asking about uk law tho was he: he was asking about Iraqi culture//

so, as long as its ok in Iraqi culture its fine then.?
Perhaps you didn’t read my original post. Suggest you do :-)
ichkeria, I read it - and I've re-read it. It's quite simple. Iraqi culture shouldn't be a consideration.
I've checked your post, ich... Are you for real?
The Times article is indeed vague, however this is presumably some PC Plod we’re dealing with here not a lawyer: these people are not Einsteins and if a suspect wants to mix it in a bit of alleged culture then it may well be enough to throw them off course. But he asked, was told, and all ended well. It seems a bit unfair to accuse him of ‘not knowing the law’
ichkeria, 'Einsteins'? 'Lawyers'? Your posts are going from bad to worse. Best you stop digging,

Thanks for replying.

\\The charity advised that he deal with the Iraqi in the same way they would deal with any other suspected child sex predator.

Karma Nirvana said that this call showed the dangers of authorities filtering serious crimes through a ‘cultural sensitivity’ lens, for fear of being perceived as racist.//

Who does it need to be verified by?
It certainly needs to be verified by those jumping up and down claiming that it shows any sort of reluctance, on the part of a) this bobby, and b) the Police, in general, to deal with 'foreign' paedophiles and child-abusers.

There have been huge assumptions made about the caller.....and quite what he was going to do with any information with which he was provided.
//There have been huge assumptions made about the caller//

What huge assumptions?
Read the OP.
