What's all this about apart from being a load of tosh on both sides, more so on the Brentwood Council side....

A complete waste of time and money - or is it a case of '"It's been a nice day - think I'll skip my meds tonight and stir things up......' in other words, what money is in it to pay for his golf balls.

Rules are rules, if he does not like it, sod off, simple.
Oh dear...... :-(
And if you feel gob-smacked, outraged, offended, discriminated against, flabbergasted, etc. just run to the press...That's par for the course nowadays, innit?
Seems to be a new hobby for some. Look for somewhere/something to be offended by and run to papers.
The gentleman is less likely than most to run anywhere, papers or otherwise.
There ought to be some sort of certification that all Councils accept, if he's not encountered problems elsewhere and Brentwood are behaving differently then it's awkward.

I have a card relating to my disability, though I have rarely needed to use it, I was told it was widely accepted.

gness - why the overt aggression? Some times you hack me off big time with your attitude.

I have sympathy for him but, like others, I think he has over-reacted to this - though the Council should have nipped it in the bud once it started to escalate. It's now costing the Brentwood rates payers a pretty penny in lawyers fees.

For the record, gness, I have played golf with various disabled people, mainly American war vets. In the UK, I have played with the chairman of a UK oil co who played to a handicap of 4 with one arm, his right one, having lost it in his father's butcher shop, aged 12.

So that's why I am somewhat indignant at your remark.
DT.....I have neither bullied you.....fought you physically not threatened you so your accusation of overt aggression is incorrect.

I doubt I hack you off as much as you hack me off. You were rude about this gentleman before you changed your tune.

I don't care how many disabled golfers you want to brag that you've deigned to play golf with......"I'll skip my meds and stir things up" is ignorant and rude.
Would you have brought your life back together so successfully had what happened to this man happened to you?
he's making such a fuss..just get the letter from GP..all clubs have rules and if it is like mine then they are strictly adhered to...even if it is glaringly obvious..thems the roools !
the course insurance provision for buggy accidents may well stipulate this condition ! ^^^
Maybe he wants to improve things for others, Minty.....some folk do that......
I agree, if that isn't his aim, just getting a letter would be simple.....maybe....

My grouse....not overt aggression....is with DTC posting that this man is off his meds and wants money to pay for his golf balls.

How anyone can be so low as to post that after what this guy's achieved is beyond me.
in my experience Gness , Golf clubs are to the letter regarding club rules and he will know that.. so no point whatsoever in making a fuss..'tis something that goes with the territory..
I have to agree with Gness re the last paragraph of the OP.

It wasn't necessary.
Fine, Minty......he will sort it I am sure.....as I said it is the OP that has sickened me....and the rather pompous reply at 17.46... :-)
don't for one minute think he's in it for financial gain...but when things become " a matter of principal " most common and level headed sense goes out of the window... easier just to comply
Not sure I agree with that, Minty....taking the....easy for me route....doesn't lead to changes....good to stand up and be counted sometimes....x

and most probably the insurance dictates as above mentioned
that route (getting a letter from the GP) would be easy for anyone, How will suing them help other people (there'll just be either an increase in CT or a reduction in other services)

now tosh from gness...she thinks she knows me but she doesn't - she's the one who is rude, insensitive and arrogant around here....Christ. Even before she pontificated off, I had made my position on this one known....he's milking it, the Council should have snuffed it out.

Shame the Ed doesn't have a category for worst answer......
