The Russians And The Gru Re Salisbury
22 Answers
Well done the police on all their work on Salisbury....and now they have named two officers of the Russian GRU. 11000 hours of CCTV footage covered.
Chances of the two individuals being released by the Ruskies to answer?
What more can the UK do as to halting the GRU's subversive actions?
Does Jeremy Corbyn know the two men - and do you think he has more than Czech ties?
And sympathy to Dawn Sturgess's family.....at least they know who, even if they won't get proper justice or compensation from the Kremlin.

I would think it was pretty certain that GCHQ/MI5 had a very short list of suspects for this crime.
The police would have had an album of perhaps a dozen photos and they did the hard work of matching faces to various CCTV footage.
Call me cynical, but I suspect the suspects were known when the Skirpals were poisoned. We would probably have never been told about the Russian Agents if Dawn Sturgess had not died from accidental poisoning.

I agree with Gromit. there's probably a lot more in this than we are being told.
Is there enough evidence to secure a conviction if they were ever brought to trial? From what we've seen on TV, two Russians came to England on a Friday, went to Salisbury, then flew back to Russia on the Sunday. The only thing that could be presented is that they had the opportunity.
I suppose it could/will be argued that more details cant be released as it may be a form of sub-judice.

Something is still very odd here.
Firstly why such a bodged attempt. State assasins(ours included) would not fail. Second the method of travel. Arrive at same time and use public transport?
Nothing here proves they did it. It would be laughed out of court.
But lets assume they were State sponsored assasins who did this. What price do you think they would pay for such spectacular failure. If it was them then I am pretty sure they are dead now.

Utter bonkers.
Frightening that some people seem to have lost all grip on reality. Dangerous times.

To be fair Gromit, yesterday was a particularly bad one for JC because his party (finally) accepted the international definition of anti-Semitism and it was confirmed that the 2 Skripal suspects were indeed from Mother Russia, something he was very reluctant to accept when the attack first occurred.
So yes, you’re right, he is utterly bonkers and has a very loose grip on reality.

Not really a full acceptance,

Not really a full acceptance,
The strange thing about this is the fact that they recognise them, well at least two men who happen to be on CCTV, they know their names and yet they entered the UK unchallenged, and also left the UK also unchallenged.
Although they opened the perfume container to administer the toxic substance, it was later found by the male of another couple, totally intact and sealed in cellophane, so much so that he gave it to his partner, who later died due to her spraying the contents on herself.
One or two things not quite right about this, who knows it might prevent Brexit taking place.

Glavnoe Razvedivatel'noe Upravlenie (Chief Intelligence Directorate) to you and everyone else.
A monster of an organisation that has remaioned more or less unaffected by the transition from Soviet Union to Russian Federation.
Curiously tho their agents do have a history of incompetence, possibly bred of arrogance.
To answer DTC's questions:
"Chances of the two individuals being released by the Ruskies to answer? "
Zero, of course, as we learned the last time.
"What more can the UK do as to halting the GRU's subversive actions? "
They can never be halted, but it's good that this organisation's activities have finally hit the headlines. Hopefully it will mean that politically (if we exclude the fantasy political world of J Corbyn) that it will be more acceptable to target their activities here.
