Too many rules to be imaginary.
far too many fat cats involved to be that imaginary.
and as been said rules and more rules.

I think the thrust of the question is; is it a real, or imaginary community? that is to say, is it really a 'community' at all?
Personally, it is its very diversity which I love, and have no desire to see it homogenised and that is what Brexit is about.
So Brexit is destroying the diversity that is 'the EU'?
"...and have no desire to see it homogenised"

Then you'd better tell your friends in Brussels. The entire European Project is about homogenisation and the dissolution of nation states. It's mantra is "only one size available (whether it fits or not)". One set of rules (regardless of their relevance or appropriateness to each nation); one currency (regardless of its suitability); one central bank, one tax regime; one army; one foreign ministry. The list goes on. Those seeking diversity need not apply.
Yes, NJ, I agree. Maybe Khandro omitted a 'not' (as in 'not diverse'). It's the only way his comments make any sense.
Question Author
Zacs; OK I could say, " it is the very diversity of the individual European countries which I love," N.J. had no problem understanding that, I wonder why you found it hard?
You could say that, Khandro, but that's not what you wrote. And NJ did have a problem, that's why he wrote 'The entire European Project is about homogenisation', because your post inferred that you thought the EU had diversity. You mentioned nothing about individual countries. Anyhow, now that you've clarified, yes, I do believe it is imaginary but I also believe the homogenisation isn't happening at all. Apart from the Euro, I can see no impact of the EU (or it's policies) on any nations culture. The internet and cheap travel have done far more to homogenise countries than the EU.

nurse nurse, come quick, my sides are splitting !!!....
Go on then GR, indulge me and give me a few examples.

Zacs; // indulge me and give me a few examples//
If you are unclear, here's someone who isn't so blind;

Probably. Real communities stick together.
I’ve no intention of watching a video of a second rate politician. Can you not articulate for yourself, Khandro. If you didn’t rely upon videos so much, people might take you a bit more seriously.
Zacs, //I’ve no intention of watching a video of a second rate politician.//

If you refuse to watch you've no idea of what's being said so you can't justifiably discount it. Just saying.
I’d rather Khandro give me his own views, rather than rely on a second rate politician. If that’s ok with you, of course!
If you want to weaken your argument, fine by me.
Your opinion that my argument is weakened because I want the person who started the thread to man-up and tell me how the EU is homogenising our daily lives, Himself is childish.
How about you having a crack at answering my question, or would that disturb your nit-picking, self aggrandising enjoyment of this website which becomes ever more tiresome by the day?

Crikey! If that’s what I get for offering a rational observation, I dread to think what your response would be if I actually voiced an opinion contrary to your own.
I’d welcome an opinion country to my own. It’s the snidey little comments I object to. Now, care to give any (opinions, that is) on Khandro’s original claim that the EU is homogenising member states?
Contrary
