initiatives that subsidise the NHS are - to an extent - to be applauded. but this?

this I think crosses a line that hospital authorities should not even have approached. what's next - exclusive deals for the photographers? buy your parents' death mask? tasteless - but just my opinion of course.

Leave some leaflets around for Families and they can request a photo if they want one - otherwise they should back off the high pressure selling.
The local Health Trust's around my way crossed the line of tackiness years ago. A dept receptionist hands you a follow up card with your next appointment date and on the back is an Ad sponsoring a Ambulance chasing Firm. Bad form IMO
Thought you were going to say Undertakers, retro'
Isn't Bounty the company that gives new mother a box of stuff? No-one's being forced to buy the photos, if it's a few hours after the birth I would imagine there would already be dozens taken.
The presence of Bounty reps on Maternity units isn't new, I encountered them when I gave birth. Thankfully they were pushy at all - if these reps are on commission they my have overstepped the mark.
^ they were not pushy

Lol. In my parlous state of health at the moment I might find that useful. :-)
hi mUsh - yes I would like your advice
as you are a sociologist and anthropologist

Can you steer me in the way of anything that is written on .....
word slippage -
when a particular word ( mum grandpa ) is used by people who arent in that mum relationship .... we had a pair of sisters who were aunts to little johnnie and the whole village started ( 20y) to call them the "Smith aunts" even referred to like that by their brother.
( clearly they were only aunts to little Johnnie and his sibs).
(It is meant to have significance for both the aunts and little J)

I have tried Kripke - name and necessity
whilst interesting is not about this
eh?
WhenI had my twins (almost) 15 years ago we had to pay a fiver for pictures of the sonogram.

Did you have twins cassa? Do you mind me asking if everything went smoothly?
Hi Kvalidir,

They were five weeks early but still weighed 6.01 and 6.10 pounds. Just think how big they would have been full term lol

I had preeclampsia towards the end and water retention like no ones business. So much so that I leaked water from my skin like a waterfall and had to spend a week in hospital.

C-Section (apparently I spurted water when they cut into me) and out popped a blue boy with TGA. He had OHS for an arterial switch at 6 days old. DD was kept in scabu for two weeks. I found out afterwards they only did this so they could feed her and make sure she survived as they were convinced DS was going to die.

Other than that, no problem. Well unless you count teenagers as no problem lol lol

For me as an older first time mum, twins didn’t faze me. I read all the books and took bits and pieces from them all but didn’t follow any with any great determination.

I will say I ignored thoroughly Gina Fords advise to have one awake and the other asleep on a rotation. You get NOT ONE SECOND of rest if you do that.
Wow that's a lot going on, thank you Cassa. I have twin siblings they were identicals and my Mum had no issues whatsoever, but then she's fortunate like that, she had no problems with any of her pregnancies. Nice to know everything turned out well for you though and what good birth weights too x
You just take it in your stride don’t you. What one person copes with another might crumple like a discarded paper bag.

I’m a coper (usually) and as much as I might like to moan a bit or regaile people with my woeful life it sim0,e is what it is. Lol
Glad you mum had a problem free pregnancy. Having been part of the twins network most people cope with pre birth OK... it’s just managing with two screamers that gets you down lol
Cassa I have three year old twin boys and T1 was born with TGA and had an arterial switch at 6 days too!! My little heart warrior is doing very well but I’ve been told further surgery (if required) may be around the teenage years. Is yours likely to need further surgery do you know?
And as for the Bounty women I just told them no, but it was annoying for them to just walk in unannounced.
