Not sure what you're on about, Togo -- both sides in Parliament have stuffed the Lords as best they can. Also, the Magna Carta is almost entirely repealed in UK law, so there's no reason to bear it in mind at all.
What Kavanaugh's influence will mean depends largely on the cases brought before the SCOTUS, but the main points to watch out for would be cases related to the legality of abortion and same-sex marriages.

There's a lot of context to this anyway that seems to have been missed. The Republican Party have basically taken the opportunity for the last four years to, firstly, block pretty much anything in Obama's agenda, including to the point of refusing to even see his nominee for the Supreme Court (SC), Merrick Garland. Then they couldn't get Neil Gorsuch through, so decided to change rules going back about 100 years in order to force him onto the SC.
In this sense, ignoring legitimate concerns about Kavanaugh, restricting any investigation, and just generally wanting to get him onto the SC as soon as possible, is just the latest step in this power play that goes back to long before Trump was president. Now, of course, the Democrats are trying to play the same game, any maybe in a month or so they'll have a better opportunity to stall and stall as much as possible. So really this is about how broken and partisan the US system has become, far more so than previously.
In that sense, it is a nonsense to proclaim that "the truth will prevail". No. The (slim) majority prevailed. The truth, one way or another, was neither here nor there.
