He can say it because he is black. There will be no headlines tomorrow 'Black Man slags off Churchill' No Newspaper dare, for fear of being called racist. I actually wrote w-t-f (as in the What The Funicular) but it seems AB changes it, much like when you type Site Rules or sandyRoe is hyper links the words
Aunt Lydia ///jackthhat I know Churchill was not a 'saint' He was a war monger he sent thousands to their death defending the UK. That's the difference: Defending, not Attacking///
My answer - I am not necessarily referring to WW2.
///You didn't fight in WW2, AOG.
That much we both know, and considering this thread is about Churchill and we have already covered, and compared him to Hitler, it is obvious I am referring to WW2. ///
My answer there shows that although the discussion was about WW2, I am acknowledging that you didn't fight in it.

The Bengal Famine."
My understanding is the famine had already gripped Bengal and Churchill decided to feed those at home and those fighting rather than send ships to India.
The results of the necessity may have been horrible....but it remains incomparable to the holocaust. Churchill didn't cause the famine. Hitler did cause the holocaust.

/// They were both male political leaders who went to war and were determined at the same point in time.. ///
Do you then think that if one of them had decided not to go to war, he would have been the better man?
I think that you will find that if Hitler had decided not to invade Poland and then the rest of Europe, there wouldn't have been a war.
So you can't place the blame for WW2 on Churchill's shoulders.

/// You do, all the time, and No, I'm not picking a fight, ///
You are certainly trying to.
/// my granddad fought for me. Not you!! ///
You are being rather silly now, I didn't know your Granddad, neither did he know me.
I presume he fought in the British armed forces during WW2, so in that roll he fought for all our freedoms, and since I was around during WW2 he must have fought for me, but not you because you wasn't even born.
You won't actually tell us what you done so stop bringing it up.

This will probably get zapped but while its up I have to say Enoch Powell was right.
