i think its a jolly good idea. Not that i see many 50 pound
notes, nor will i to be be honest.
No objection.
The last one I saw was many moons ago and that was a forgery.
I'm fine with that.
Should I care ? Pick someone worthy and just do it. The cash value is more important than the picture. Just try not to make it a mess like the recent coin designs.

Yes, I did think I might get the ‘ive Never seen one’ comments. I don’t think I’ve ever had one, either. But, in principle, I don’t have any objection.
Mary Seacole.....of course, how have we missed her before?

Never heard of her.

How about Douglas Bader or Guy Gibson.
Sqad - men are already over-represented on UK banknotes so nothing wrong with having Mary Seacole.
Sounds an ideal candidate. Having read how the selection process works I would hardly call it a public choice.
diddlydoo...I didn't think that it was a gender issue, but OK,,....then how about Florence Nightingale ?

At least someone who is recognisable.......
i had no idea she was mixed race, not that should count for anything, but she was certainly a force to be reckoned with.

makes very interesting reading for those that don't know her
Prostitute, wasn't she?
not as far as i am aware, what makes you think that?

She’s been the subject of discussion on here a few times before:

Pretty sure she worked in/owned a comfort station, not a hospital.
I’m willing to carry out an in-depth survey of the options should the treasury wish to send me samples :-)
I suggest about 100-150 options
How many people take notice what luminary is on our bank notes, very few i suspect, and i did think that Florence Nightingale was on one of them or had been.
comfort station, hotel caring for the troops not pandering to their sexual needs, read the wiki piece its illuminating.
//how about Florence Nightingale ? //
isn't she on the tenner?
