Whilst not making any excuses for this violent killing or the State which is suspected of carrying it out, but what I want to ask is why so much attention is being levelled at this particular killing when it is not unknown for similar killings to have been carried out all over the World?

Can’t really think of a similar incident.

This was an unarmed journalist visiting his own country’s Consulate, and an assassination on foreign soil.

There is a certain irony that it occurred in Turkey, a country where murder, torture and imprisonment of journalists is rife.

Hardly a one off. We have a couple of hitmen/squads visited us in the last few years.
Just heard something on the news that the crown prince is being replaced by another member of the family, which would suggest that he might have had a hand in this at his own instigation.
The crown prince is out of control. It will be good news if he can be reined in: we all wet our pants about the the fact he was going to allow women to drive or whatever. It all seemed to be going to his head. Scary what unlimited wealth and the blessing of your family (some of them) and the most powerful man on earth can do for your ego and apparent belief that you can do what you like. And could be v embarrassing for Trump himself .
Slightly ironic that S Arabia can bomb the crap out of the Yemenis and barely a peep from anyone; and yet this causes outrage. It is however NOT a common occurrence this: sadly bombing of civilians seems to be: we have got used to that.
Hey old timer!
you have finally worked out that Khasoggi is dead

Due to the explosive situation in that part of the world, can we afford not to have Saudi on our side?
There have been 72 public beheadings in Saudi so far this year, but nothing much has been said about that and business was continuing as usual until this affair - why is that?
Probably because although we may find it distasteful it’s their law: whatever you think of capital punishment.
^^ so that's nicely sorted!
Pretty much: that is the reason.
However their bombing of the Huthis might be more of a point.
