what's more important - that the story is told competently and by names marketable in the film industry (for purposes of garnering funding/advertising), or that it's told by people who the industry may never have heard, but have what is regarded as "the correct credentials"?

"Dunham tweeted a report by Variety magazine that she was to work on an adaptation of A Hope More Powerful Than the Sea, the harrowing story of Doaa Al-Zamel, who survived the sinking of the boat on which she was attempting to cross the Mediterranean. (Her fiance drowned after their vessel was rammed.)

Sounds entertaining stuff! Can't wait for it to come out (not).

Yes, should be riveting viewing. Probably get lots of awards from the 'right on' film critics.
