Livestock is bred for our food - that is their sole purpose in life, and I'm happy to eat them. I've been to an abattoir and it didn't put me off eating animals - I mention this as I've seen the argument before that "if you went to an abattoir yadda yadda yadda..."
Normal vegans (an oxymoron surely) just tend to be condescending and superior, which is OK if that makes them feel morally better than others (they're not better - but it isn't really doing any harm), but unfortunately you have the militant wing of veganism who think nothing of causing criminal damage, as shown in the link, the likes
of Selene Nelson who celebrated the death of 7 people following a Spanish bull-run, and the likes of Joey Carbstrong who thinks artificial insemination of cows is sexual abuse. How are normal people meant to deal with idiots like these?

PETA - an entirely absurd organisation, states in all seriousness that cows are raped!

As soon as people start talking about sexual abuse and murder, they lose all credibility they might otherwise have had.
I love meat (in fact I like fish more - but let's keep this to meat), and no amount of posturing or propaganda from vegans will ever persuade me otherwise. I love baby cow liver, I love veal, on the very rare occasions I've had it, I love fois gras, and yes I am aware of la gavage.
Animals are bred for our food so I couldn't really care less how they end up on my plate.
This attitude to a vegan makes them feel all warm and fuzzy in the (mistaken) belief they are morally superior to me. I can live with that.
