I mean.. maybe, but with the doom of brexit being bought down on us, i think the majority would lowe it.

I just hope if i ever have to evacuate the UK and swim the france the same kind of system would help me.
Rescue is ok, but it needs to dock and drop off rescuees on the French side.
it will, time to put our not inconsiderable foot down.
they end up in our system, whereas they should be deported back to France.

I agree they should be sent back to France, why should we bear the expense and responsibility for them, anyone know the answer?
Im unsure if we do take in tese illegals. Where does it say we do?

The boat is to stop this and to rescue others, not to give them a free entry.
they are being landed here and taken to asylum centres where they are being processed, according to the news.
Most asylum centres are no picnic, and a considerable number of illegals are deported. But don't let this stifle your relentless tirades.
We need gunboats to blow them out of the water.
they are trying to get here before Brexit really kicks in. Personally if they have thousands to spend on getting across the channel, then surely that money would be best spent in their homelands. I would sink the traffickers without hesitation.
well for a change i agree with AOG. as a country we have to decide what our line is - either tolerance and let (potentially) everyone in or no tolerance and drop them back in france.
If we are going to be the bread basket of refugees. Then a total redistribution of wealth is required. Ain’t going to happen.

/// Most asylum centres are no picnic, ///

And neither should they be, they are illegals and as such should face the same conditions as all other criminals.

You may wish for your descendants life style to deteriorate from what is still the best country in the World, and seeing a deterioration of our NHS, a chance of a roof over their heads or schools to send their children to etc etc, but I am not, and I suspect many other level headed persons are not.
Yes, it will encourage more.
No, it won't.
People fleeing tyranny see us as a beacon of liberty. They'll try to get here whatever the risks, and costs.
"People fleeing tyranny see us as a beacon of liberty"

More like fleeing an empty wallet, wanting a better life is not cause for Asylum.

Most illegals are NOT asylum seekers, and if they are convention is to seek asylum is the first safe country. Last time I looked France fell into this category.
//People fleeing tyranny see us as a beacon of liberty. //

People coming here from France aren't fleeing tyranny. They're coming here because we're an easy touch.
and we shouldn't be an easy touch, time for the government to actually do something, like send them back to France. They are illegals and are costing us ever more money, to house, feed them whilst their application is heard, some may well get to stay, which is totally the wrong approach.
You can bet a bent penny that the French will be encouraged to turn a blind eye to many more attempts now they see how weak we are.Probably supply the means as well to get here.
// People fleeing tyranny see us as a beacon of liberty //

The French might be a bit grumpy wouldn't say they're tyrannical.

If they are found in the Channel it's 99.9% certain they have come from France, why the heck can't we dump them back on French soil?
