Nice one.
did he, i don;t remember that.. isn't it against protocol to pick it up..
Yes, I well remember , he was banned from 'The House' for a time.
That when he was nicknamed Tarzan, emmie.
It wasn’t just Hezza. Didn’t Labour’s Ron Brown do it?
No one holds a candle tho to Bernadette Devlin the independent nationalist MP who slapped Home Secretary Reggie Maudling in the chamber (ouch) in 1972.
so that is why he got that nickname, ooohh.
Oh dear me, no, we're not allowed to refer to such past indiscretions committed by right-wing MPs such as Michael Hesseltine's mace-grab in 1976!
I say that because I myself once referred to Reginald Maudling's comment as outgoing Tory Chancellor in 1964, when he left a note which read, "Sorry old chap, to leave it in such a mess," for the incoming Labour Chancellor. (A later Labour Chancellor merely copied that approach, almost thought-for-thought much more recently.)
(Actually, Maudling didn't write 'chap' but the word normally used to indicate a male bird! I felt I had better avoid that!)

My word, wasn't I hauled over the coals by a prominent lady ABer for reminding members of that. Her idea was that 1964 was, effectively, in the Dark Ages!
To be more precise about Maudling's words, his last three words were "in this shape" and not "such a mess". We oldies do get memory-lapses, of course!
Quizmonster, I think you'll find that any periods of Labour rule are by definition Dark Ages in the minds of many people hereabouts.
naomi will be pleased.
It don't mean a thing
If it ain't got that swing
(doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah, doo-ah)
It's something that happens every now and then when a twit wants attention. They should chain it down or put it in a case really.
