Rather than "elf n safetee BS", the problem here may be that they need to see/detect a drone before they can shoot it down. It is now looking quite likely that there were no reliable sightings and possibly no drone

Surely, if there had been a drone over Gatwick Airport, the Air Traffic Control Tower would have had Radar and Photographic evidence as proof of the matter.

It is the case that the Police has admitted that, from no less than 67 alleged sightings, none has proved to be accurate and all are without any reliable photographs or Electronic evidence.
