Rockrose, //Because they have lived their lives and should stop ruining the future for younger generation// The senior generation are still living their lives. Are you trying to qualify for the stupidest post of the week?

I think if you're able to work, marry, have a house and drive then you're entitled to vote.

However, i think 18 is a fine limit. There are 16 year olds that know more than 85 year olds.
I think it's actually quite insulting to say you have to be educated to a certain level.

My dad left school at 14....that doesn't make him stupid!
Oh Danny I think you have already won that mate
danny for best answer.
Spath // However, i think 18 is a fine limit. There are 16 year olds that know more than 85 year olds//
And there are many octogenarians that know more than you or any other 16 year old,
Radical, the point?
It's unfortunate that age is so divisive in this country, it shouldn't be an 'us and them' approach at either ends of the spectrum, both can learn a lot from the other, but frankly Sparkly I'll be damned if I pay the amount of tax I do and be told I'm not an adult and ought not be allowed to vote. I'll have all my money back then that I've somehow been grown up enough to earn.
No taxation without representation.
Rockrose, //Hey Naomi we are all entitled to state our opinion on this thread, you don’t have the right yet to dismiss them, //

I haven’t dismissed your opinion. I’ve asked you to elaborate. Are all retired people, in your opinion, ruining the future for the younger generation?

// perhaps when you get into parliament and turn the country to your ideal haven!//

Getting into parliament has never been an ambition of mine.
I think being required to turn out (or register for a postal vote) is important. If you want to turn out and spoil your vote that's a choice too but maybe it will actually get some people to think that if they have to do something anyway then you might as well get involved in the process. I suspect that many no show-ers think "oh there is something good on telly, its raining, and so on and its apathy rather than a deliberate decision.
11.09 " Nobody should be allowed to vote unless they've passed A level
Economics " have to agree with you , now we know why 51% of the UK voted leave.
^He's entitled to vote. :o/

RR: "Because they have lived their lives and should stop ruining the future for younger generation " - would this be the future they delivered for the young to abuse and squander?
who is squandering?

SD, "you're dam well going to have democracy whether you want it or not!" - Nope, silly!
Gulliver //11.09 " Nobody should be allowed to vote unless they've passed A level economics//
Have you even passed your 11 plus?
How exactly have the young abused and squandered the world? By and large we've had no time or chance to do either yet... anything going on now is firmly at the door of your generation, so if you don't like it you ought to have made better decisions.
Question Author
Sparkly: "danny for best answer. " - never let it be said that I don't listen to public opinion!
How is what I said any different to other comments about education and such like
danny - Chris wrote that!!!
