If he is, I don't really understand the vitriol. I don't agree with him - I think Liz Hurley, at 53, is the sexiest woman on the planet - but if younger women are his preference, then so what.

Ever since I became interested in women I've always had a 'type', and therefore I think these things are hard-wired. My preference has always been slim and brown-haired. I can objectively see that some blondes (for instance) and larger ladies are attractive, but because of my type, I've never been attracted to them.

It's shallow to prefer older partners and discount people under 40-50 simply like it's shallow to prefer younger partners and discount people over 40 / 50.

Maybe love and lust have got lost in Translation. Most would agree a 25 year old would be more physically appealing to a 50 year old man than their contemporary (though there are, I'm sure, plenty of fat ugly 25 year olds) but love is so much more than physical attraction.

I think there's a translation problem with him being French.
He's talking about attraction, because although he uses the word 'love' he then goes on to talk about the relative merits of peoples bodies. He's clearly not talking about platonic matters.
