Well I was hoping someone else would raise this but I guess it falls to me. Will remainiacs stop at nothing to thwart the referendum result?
//'How can unelected officials be better than someone who [we] can get shot of?// “Politicians are a lot like diapers. They should be changed frequently, and for the same reasons.” Benjamin Franklin
"if we do leave on no deal and there are big problems" ≠ "if we do leave on no deal and there will be big problems"
No problems save for getting over the Remainer obstacles ensuring every preparation needs to be agreed. And any refusal means insufficient preparations for what needs to be done. (And no doubt Remainers trying to make out it was Brexit not them that caused any issues.)
I agree with Berkie actually
( usual common law argument coming up)
you cant have immutable rules for ever - or else we would have rules made up in 1215
Berkie by doing this - re-empowered the commons
a contrast
as the usual AB poster boy Trump is trying to DISempower congress ...
will ya build my boodiful warl ?
Nants ( for it is she - Pelosi that is) - Naaah
Pres - well you can sod off then
Nants - we will !
has any AB deep thinker noticed that there is on the table a deal which will keep on EEC employment rules etc ? so long as the sheep vote for Brexit as is
so much for keeping the laws to ourselves
now why may ( ha! pun intended) that be? surely surely not because the EEC rules offer GREATER protection to the working man than would otherwise be the case?
(Does anyone remember D Cameron esq and his Great British Liberties Bill which would repeal the Human Rights Act and offer FEWER liberties than before and not more? - - No? I thought not)
so much for 'making the rules ourselves'
well the other rules are much better - only they are bad because we didnt make them, someone else did......
'How can unelected officials be better than someone who [we] can get shot of?' Are you seriously saying you have faith in the people who are due to inherit complete control of our affairs?
'but totally ignore the direction the EU is going' The direction the EU is a pure construct on your (and other leave voter's) behalf to justify your vote.
'Perhaps you are happy with a dictatorship run by Germany?'
In what way is Germany a dictatorship?
Strange that the brightest intellects on AB can't understand a basic concept like liberty. Or how arbitrary power, however benign on the outside, might be a threat to it..
PS: Solzhenitsyn passim.
Here's a reading list:
Animal Farm
or if you can't handle allegory try
1984 by the same author.
Or if novels don't float your boat trysomething factual like
or if you can't handle allegory try: 1984, same author. //
you mean 1984 is TRUE ? I was just sleeping?
and that the Two minutes' hate of Emmanual Goldstein was not allegory ( which I cdnt handly anyway)
blimey the things you learn from the intellects on AB !
I must vote Brexit immediately - the intellects really DO know best ( thx to Douglas Jay father of Lord Jay)
I see all I recieved was insults rather than answers. Standard for leave voters. All ‘shouty’ and no substance. No idea what the removed answer was but I can guess.
Dystopian novels like "1984" and "Brave New World" are not allegories. They are both fictional descriptions of possible societies. An actual one in Orwell's case. Maybe AB's most accomplished polyglot should consult an English dictionary for a change.
Nothing allegorical about the two minute Goldstein hate break. Hero of the Soviet Union was a boy who shopped his parents: true or false? Chinese school children sticking "enemy of the people" placards round their teachers' necks and abusing them: true or false? I've even seen a highly respected AB poster doing a Goldsteinstyle hate rant against someone as harmless as the Nobel prize winner Tim Hunt for no "crime" worse than having made a bad joke about women in the laboratory.
