The UK, and US kowtow to the horrendous regime in Riyadh Saudi Arabia , because we are seduced by their vast wealth.
So we forgive/turn a blind Eye or excuse their many atrocities. Terrible that the UK has been reduced to grovelling at the feet of such contemptible lowlifes, but money talks.

"Why would anyone want to go to live in New Zealand though (no disrespect) " - not sure why you feel the need to disrespect NZ, it's a whole lot nicer than many of these middle eastern nations where women fear for their lives for the most trivial of "offences".

Once (last year) I spent an hour or so at work trying to protect a Saudi lady from her husband who was trying to beat her up (he had already given her a bloody nose) The poor woman had nowhere to turn. I did sit her down and asked her whether her husband had hit her but she denied it. They always deny it. I would have loved to have taken her back to the UK but that was never going to happen
