//Re Boris Johnson, he had an idea that a land bridge from N Ireland to Scotland would solve the backstop issue//

A really Cool idea.
We could use the £39 billion we saved on the EU to build 5% of that bridge. Definitely worth it :/
I don’t think the EU is that bothered about a No Deal. Not to the extent that the prospect of it will make them reopen negotiations.
The backstop is a red herring. An excuse by some MPs who would like a no deal exit. There was an amendment to the Bill tonight which wanted to basically bin it from the deal. It got 24 votes. 24! Where were all the ERG folk who number considerably more than that?
I didn't think that a 'pot' factory visit would do her much good????
//A really Cool idea.//

Haha I have visions of a modern day "Leviathon Bridge" as in the novel by David Hair's Moontide Quartet. Great set of fantasy reads by the way.

""The Moontide is ending. As the seas rise to engulf the Leviathan Bridge and once again separate East and West, Emperor Constant unleashes the final phase of his earth-shattering plan to conquer the known world.""
A bridge between N Ireland and Scotland aside from any other engineering and environmental issues would be irrelevant to solving the issue. There’d still be different customs areas either side.
It sounds more like a 'Dickens Martini' for Juncker - no Olive or twist.

For May, I think its time for a bottle of Scotch (blended) and a revolver, with the door opened to the balcony.
The UK has had only two female Prime Ministers: The first achieved fame as being the best, and it appears that the second will achieve notoriety as being the worst...Interesting, what?

It don't get any better, does it? No Bullseye. Bumbling along.

A Moody Mrs May will be:

May had Great Expectations but the HoC turned out to be a Bleak House. Hard Times, what?
I quite agree, she needs to stop waving her Pickwick Papers around the Old Curiosity Shop and grow a pair of Martin Chuzzlewits.

(Well you took all the best Dickens puns, be fair...)

There's got to be a little space left (in the hands of better punsters than I) for Barnaby Grudge and Zombie and Son hasn't there?
Let us indeed review the situation:

We have a deal that no one wants.
A Prime Minister that no on one wants.
An Opposition that isn’t fit for purpose.
A Leader of the Opposition that no one wants.
No credible replacement Tory leader.
And a divided electorate.

It does not bode well for our immediate future, when great leadership will be of paramount importance. Where the hell is that going to come from? (spare us the JRM, Boris jokes).
Inchkeria I totally agree what is ERG ?
Gordie - I think ERG means "The European Research Group".
Well nice to see us united with a few Dickens puns at least. Great stuff!
In not quite the words of Wilkins Micawber:
No of votes for 202. No of votes against 432 - result: misery. We should all on both sides, thank Gina Miller, our mutual friend, without whom none of this excitement will be happening.
Gromit, 03.30 Spot on.
So you are not happy with labour then Gully?
Gromit, you forgot one

A useless self important speaker no one wants.

It is indeed a sad state of affairs.
