changing the signage for parent and child parking bays to gender neutral.

https://www.msn.com/en-gb/news/uknews/supermarket-changes-parent-and-child-car-parking-sign-to-ensure-it-is-gender-neutral/ar-BBSq7Jb?ocid=spartandhp

as an aside, if you're a grandparent/aunt/uncle/godparent to child(ren) why don't they go the whole hog and just have 'Supervising Adult and Child' areas?

It now looks as though its designated only for Batman and Robin.

Pointless story in my opinion. If the bay had needed repainting anyway would it have made the newspapers that someone was temporarily unable to park?
Now if all the bays had previously been clearly marked I don't see a need to change them now but really that's a matter for ALDI
Pathetic. Adult and child depicted on a parking space. Everyone knows who that space is allocated to.
Publicity stunt by this supermarket (which I consequently deliberately keep anonymous in this response).
PC idiocy.
But the sign is still white! Racist, surely?
Would it be idiocy if the supermarket and car park were newly built? I really can't see why anyone would make an issue if it were a new car park.
It isn't a new car park.
Obviously. I'm wondering whether people feel it's idiotic to have a gender neutral sign or whethe rthey think it's idiotic to replace existing signs. If the latter then do we know whether the markings need to be repainted anyway?
if a supermarket painting a sign is a news story, the world is definitely going madder.
Better that they did away with the allocated privileged spaces. They aren't disabled, and they choose to drag their kids around the shop.
I can't speak for others but I think gender neutral signs on a car park are merely pandering to political correctness.
I think some people look to be offended. I'm not sure which is madder- being offended by the old non-gender neutral sign or being offended by someone choosing to repaint a sign on their own property.
OG, I don't agree with that. With the limited room that ordinary spaces offer, have you ever tried getting a baby or toddler out of a car seat? As for choosing to drag kids around shops, those who have no one to care for the children have no choice. They have to take the kids with them.
OG - not true. I think most parents would rather leave their kids at home but we can't.
FF, the idiocy is in the fact that it was thought necessary to alter the signs.
FF, an overused and much abused word - offended. I don't see that anyone here is 'offended'.
>I can't speak for others but I think gender neutral signs on a car park are merely pandering to political correctness.

I can't speak for others but I don't see any reason for having gender specific signs when clearly parents can be male or female (or one of all the other30 odd genders that seem to be recognised now). The only issue is at what stage signs should be replaced. I'd leave that to the supermarkets. I wouldn't want a law forcing them all to change them overnight but that isn't what's happening.
FF, //I wouldn't want a law forcing them all to change them overnight but that isn't what's happening. //

No one said it is.
>FF, the idiocy is in the fact that it was thought necessary to alter the signs
I don't know what the state of the markings were.
Maybe if customers boycott the store it will change them back.
Naomi- did I say anyone had said that ? Pointless response from you really , perjhaps in an attempt to score a point. The world is going mad
