Simon Smith was jailed in 1996 for killing his own three babies. Mr Justice McKinnon told him he would be failing in his duty if he did not recommend that in this case a life sentence should mean life. However, The Parole Board has now said Smith was "suitable" for the move, which would prepare him for possible release.

There's something wrong with the justice system in this country. Parole boards in particular.

It is about time there was a review to see what ticks in the minds of those on Parole boards and if needs be issue more robust guidelines. The parole board is no stranger to recent controversy . What with the Criminal Protection Service (CPS), dubious sentencing by the judiciary(See the 'Zombie knife' OP) and soft Parole boards it is no wonder the morale in the Police Service is zilch especially those tasked on serious crime units and Murder Squads.

It's pretty offensive to sling massive generalisations about people's social and political leanings into what is actually a decision made by a government appointed body according to presumably, current guidelines. Or do you think all people who serve on Parole Boards vote Labour?
