The only way the PM can get a deal is with substantial support from Labour MPs.
A proposal from Jeremy Corbyn for the UK to stay in the customs union with certain concessions elsewhere looks like it might have some mileage in it. At long last doing what she should have done months ago and trying to get a cross party consensus rather than trying to placate unplacateable members of her own party.

No concessions would ever have been enough for the European Research Group, unfortunately. If we end up leaving without a deal, the economic crisis will do for the government. If the ultras are defeated and they manage to scrape a compromise through, they'll take her down with them.

Still, May has proved remarkably tenacious - we all thought she was finished multiple times and here she still is. If she does still want to cling on to power a little longer (which surely must be a big if at this point...), she'll seek an A50 extension. This would be fairly consistent with her behaviour thus far, and is also probably necessary to pass the required amount of legislation anyway.

No point in replacing her this close to March 29. Let her fail to get significant change to her deal, get us out without a deal, then one can discuss who is best suited to rule during the extraction period, and steer us to the top.

We won’t leave without a deal I’m pretty confident. I know it’s the default option but there’s too much
at stake on all sides. An extension seems likely if needed as kromo says.
I am not sure I agree with Beth Rigby that MPs would make her going a condition of them supporting a deal. She is after all going fairly soon anyway you’d think. They might use it as an excuse for caving in tho perhaps. Seems odd tho.

I was talking about the government. I suspect that if certain MPs could be convinced there’d be no automatic Brexit then some night be persuaded to compromise. I can imagine that the suspicion that many of them are simply exploiting the fact that Brexit will happen anyway and are merely stalling has built up a huge resentment and bitterness on both sides of the channel
I would not be surprised if that turns out to be a huge motivating factor in favour of not letting them have their way.
In any event if there is a “No Deal” it won’t be the “crashing out” kind; there’d be some sort of emergency arrangement. But the longer it goes in the less likely there’ll be time for that

I agree with OG completely. Brexit was not about deals it was about leaving the EU. I voted to leave and wasn't influenced by any campaign. Long before referendums or Brexit I was totally disillusioned with the EU. I believe we should leave with no deal and then May should go. She has been useless and weak!

If you thought leaving the EU was about not doing deals you were gravely mistaken or misled. Apart from anything else how did you imagine we were going to trade with them without doing trade deals? And that bit hasn’t even started yet

What proposals are people reading that they think Leavers haven’t given way on?

Every concession made has been at the expense of leave.

The default position is leave with no TRANSITION deal and work bloody hard when we have left to make a grown up workable deal that benefits the UK.

Now we have (as was always the plan by those who didn’t want to leave) “we must be in a customs union, we must be in the single market. We must stay closely aligned to the EU in as much and as many ways as possible”.

So please show me where leave has got anything like the actual default position or a true Brexit?.

And if you are in any doubt I will tell you loudly and clearly, we Leavers would not be so dogmatic about going WTO if it hadn’t been for the absolute abject disdain both the EU and the remainers have shown for the result of the referendum.
