Well, possibly. But why *should* that be the only dichotomy on offer to the electorate anyway? And you're completely mistaken if you think that the Brexit issue will be "gone" any time soon: in all four of the current plausible scenarios it will roll on, and on, and on.

When will we be out though? And how? March 29th 2019 only marks the formal "exit date" but under the Withdrawal Agreement also marks the start of a "transition period" that will last at least 21 months, and perhaps even longer still. If we leave with No Deal then that resolves nothing either, because there will still remain the question of our future trading relationships with the EU. Or there will be a delay to the current leaving date; or there will be a further referendum, and even if that leads to us remaining I have no doubt that Leave Supporters would feel angry and disgusted, and would not go quietly -- and nor should they, either.

There is no model that sees Brexit, or more broadly UK-EU relations in general, dying as an issue in the near future.

I'm not quite sure ymb is right about the Tory Party being Liberal now. It's certainly very divided whatever it is overall. But what gets me is at a time when both parties are in chaos and crisis,

As will Corbyn with his 'troublemakers', which is a sad state of affairs. It shows how polarised and shambolic things are becoming.

Is it possible for the public to have a vote of no-confidence in parliament as a whole? just a thought.

185 Conservatives MPs (the majority) identified themselves as Remainers before the Referendum, and 218 Labour MPs (the majority) did the same. They all now find themselves in a party with a leader who is pushing for Brexit, and some of them are very unhappy about that.
Forming a Pro EU coalition opposition, is on paper, the honest thing to do. It may also be quite astute if brexit goes bad, and the public shun the main parties.

Cassa, Tora, I agree with you that it would be good to see a party position themselves as Pro EU and let the others jockey for their position. Would you be prepared to delay Brexit to let IG develop as a party and firm up the position of Con and Labour?

It is well known that the Conservative Party is divided. It has been for 40 years over Europe. The gloating about the so called split in the Labour Party yesterday was gleeful from some ABers. Cut to day, and their view of the Conservative Party ‘split’ is by contrast somewhat subdued.
PS I enjoyed your reference to The Clash yesterday, not sure it was puckup by many.

I heard Maria Caulfield Tory MP earlier: the epitome of cluelessness. Claiming that the “Malthouse” agreement or whatever it was called is going to save the day. Before it was pointed out to her that that is more or less dead in the water. Doomed to be one of the great mysteries of our time: does anyone know what it actually consisted of other than possibly a selfie of Nicky Morgan and Jacob Rees Mogg with the forced smile of parents who’d like to stay together for the sake of the children but know it’s probably hopeless.
